.....and is it the specialty you wanted to go to?:D

Specializes in General adult inpatient psychiatry.

I was hired for general inpatient psych, working 12 hour nights. My heart lies in pediatrics, but the jobs available in that are few and far between. I could never do or stay in med-surg, and I love psych patients, so here I am. :) 2nd best isn't so bad.

Specializes in OR.

Surgical floor. I want to get my masters in something, so I figured why not this? Definately not my first choice (I eventually want to do trauma at ) but it will give me great experience out the gate.

Right now I'm slated for nights, but found out last week I got in the RN-BSN program at our school. There's a weekend fulltime day shift job opening (weekend days, and one day shift during the week) thats available and it would work perfectly with school, plus theres an incentive for it.

I'm just glad to have a job really. I can always specialize later!

I got hired in a brand new ER 7p - 7a. Should be interesting!

Would like to get MSN and teach.

Specializes in rn in nicu.

nicu, and yes that is/was my first choice. In a few years I want to go back to get my NNP. Congrats to all recent grads! :yeah:

Hired at an acute rehabilitation hospital 11p-730a, I wanted something with geriatrics and I guess this is close enough. We can't be picky in Jersey, they are just not hiring new grads!

Got hired on a Med-Surg/Peds floor. Really wanted L&D but job went to one of my classmates because she knew the hiring manager. Don't mind the job though because I see as a way to learn new things and it's just my first job.

Specializes in Home Health.

I was hired on an Ortho/Med-Surg floor. It wasn't my first choice, but it will give me what I need to go where I want to go in nursing.

I graduated back in December, but I was offered a position in L & D, and the Pediatric ER. They were both perfect offers, but my heart went with the Pediatric ER position due to the reputation of the hospital. Been there since February, and I love it!

Brand new NICU, rotating schedule (3 12 hr shifts) during 6-month orientation, then day or nights decided after that, searched high and low for pediatric positions, literally across the entire country, really exited to have gotten this one, relocating about 9 hours away from home but I'm 22 so what does it matter? Just need to get the boards outta the way now...

Specializes in Surgical Trauma Burn ICU, Oncology.

Surgical Trauma Burn ICU and definitely my 1st choice...nervous though!

I graduated in May 2009 and got my first choice- Medical ICU!!! I worked hard for the the position. During nursing school I worked as a PCT/Sec at three hospitals just to make sure that I would have a job when I was done. It's not as bad as it seems all three jobs were PRN.
