Hi msnorth, I was wondering what part of Florida you moved to. I as well am new to Florida and I am currently looking for a job, but no luck.

The Melbourne/Viera/Rockledge area. Where are you?

Southern New Jersey

Graduated May 2012

Passed NCLEX RN July 2012

Received my License October 2012

Started my first RN position in February 2014.

applied for about 3 jobs a week for over a year, took 21 months post graduation- 16 months post licensure to land my first RN position. During all interviews during that time I was told that with no experience I was too risky to hire, and with no CNA/LPN/PTC experience or connections, I was passed over often. If I could go back and do it again I would certainly make sure to have some sort of experience at a medical facility prior to graduation and licensure.

Good luck work hard keep up hope its doable hard work gets results every time. NYC and i'm thinking most of the metro city areas everyone wants experience but how do new nurses get the exp unless someone hires. There is no nursing shortage for new grads only for specialty experienced nurses. Job ads frequently say no new grads need apply.

Specializes in LTC, Rural, OB.

rural Montana has plenty of opportunities

Phoenix, AZ

Enrolled for RN-BSN starting Fall 2014

Passed NCLEX 6/11/2014

Applied to 1 job and was hired.

I have been a PCA on my floor since the fall and worked very hard during this last year of nursing school to secure a job as an RN after I finished school. I start my new job the end of July on a surgical floor.

Advice: If you are still in school get a job as a PCT/PCA in a hospital you would want to work in and stick it out...it will pay off. Many of my classmates are still looking for jobs and keep getting reject emails. I'm thankful but I also put in the time and hard work to help secure a job after school.
