New Grad RN can't find a job

I graduated in December 2014. I passed my boards a couple of weeks later in mid January. Since then, I have applied to over 200 jobs. I have sent follow up emails, made phone calls, the whole 9 yards. Yet, still nothing. I am in the metro Atlanta area and have increased my search to many surrounding cities. I have searched for nurse residency programs and new grad RN positions. I still can't find anything. What else can I do? I'm frustrated that they always say "nurses are always in high demand" but no one wants to give the new grads a shot.

Look into the info that Texmex22 posted! I've found that the major hospitals in the city want their new grads to start in a residency program- that's what I was lucky enough to get. In fact, residencies are the only positions I was called to interview for. The spring residencies are full at most facilities by now, but the fall residencies should open up for applications in May. Apply to all of the ones that you're comfortable with, and then resubmit your applications if you don't hear anything for a few weeks.

Ever thought about moving to Savannah...every hospital I've worked in is notoriously understaffed. If you don't mind moving come on down to beautiful Savannah, GA.

Expenses are very low in North Dakota and you will get hired on pretty fast there as well.

Keep the faith, it will happen. I looked for a job in a large, metropolitan area as a new grad for eight months and landed a job interview during a vacation in a different state. Rural underserved areas seem more willing to hire new grads. Places where I've worked have posted ads and have gotten NO APPLICANTS! I will add that I work in a location that's a vacation spot and it's beautiful.
