1. It took me a total of 7 months from the time the job closed to the start date. The benefits are great and you get a guaranteed 80 hours no matter what. The new graduate residency process is amazing! I would recommend it to any new nurse. It is a very lengthy process, but it is all worth it in the end. Looking back over those 7 months. I learned a lot about myself and having patience. Hang in there for all those that are waiting for that final offer call. On another note the VA needs to come up with a better way of streamlining the process to make it much shorter and easier for both HR and the prospective employee.
2. Thank you for your response! How do you like the program so far? Has it been helpful?
3. Hi, I was recently offered a job at the VA, and I will go through the new graduate nurse program. I was wondering have anyone went to the VA new graduate nurse program, and if so what can I expect from the program.
4. Expenses are very low in North Dakota and you will get hired on pretty fast there as well.
5. HR is suppose to call and offer a start date. I was told by the nurse recruiter that the start dates occur every two weeks. I have been waiting two weeks for a start date. So hopefully we hear something soon! You can call to see if your package has been sign by the DON. This is the step after the package meets the board and from the DON it goes to HR.
6. thank you! Hopefully it will be soon!
7. Do anyone know how long it takes for HR to call with a start date after the package has met the board?
8. I did a phone interview with the VA. Just make sure you are familiar with the Performance Based Interview (PBI) style questions.
9. I am going through the exact same process. I am currently waiting on the director's signature as well. I hope it doesn't take 30 days to obtain. Congrats!
10. Ok, thanks!
11. Can someone tell me how long the process is from the tentative offer to the final offer? I was given a tentative offer at the beginning of December, and I was given a time frame of 6 weeks to 6 months for the whole process including boarding to be completed.
12. Has anyone heard anything about a person getting offer a job in general medicine or surgery yet?
13. I haven't heard anything so far and neither has a couple of people that have applied. Hopefully tomorrow or Friday. I know Darrell said that would start notifying people starting Tuesday.
14. oh, ok. I hope we hear something this week!
15. what email did you receive from HR? Did they give you a job offer?
