  1. Omg, this sounds like I wrote this! Everything to the being told I'm quiet to an empty educator role and everything in between! Finally, 10 months in I'm finally not super stressed everyday.. If you like it then hang in there. Ps, I'm still quiet.. Other people just think they are so great they need to be constantly heard.. We're just more humble people!
  2. We scrub as nurses, and the techs definitely respect the RN's. Techs talk about becoming nurses but never the other way around.. I would find a different OR, one with higher acuity in which the nurses are vital to the anesthesiologists and to the patients over all care....
  3. I got in with an ADN, try Colorado!!its beautiful here and has many hospitals.. My company's periop 101 cover Colorado Springs, Denver, Parker, castle rock and pueblo
  4. I will say.. I felt so HONORED to become an OR NURSE.. I never thought twice.. But sometimes I think I need to shadow on the floor for the basics. I literally learn 5 things new everyday, and at least one thing would be common sense if I had some Floor Experience.... I do worry about upward growth too, other than RNFA... is there more? I was thinking maybe PERFUSIONIST?
  5. I finished the periop program in 6 months too.. New grad as well...Then I had to fly solo. It is hard, face paced and I'm often nervous. The fast pace and the pressure to be even faster is something that makes me nervous too. Sometimes I just want to scream, "slow down" I need some extra time here! I am worried about airway emergencies as I don't know what to do, other than grab a cart... In my spare time "ha!" I try to learn as much as I can about emergencies...I'm pretty sure I like the OR... But I wouldn't be driving that far if I wasn't sure, also I like the different skill set I am learning as opposed to a floor nurse.. No families, no med pass ect. I heard it takes about 2 years to feel comfortable... So I only have 23 months left of fear and anxiety!
  6. I'm doing my scrub rotation now and I feel like I suck!!! I want to just circulate at this point but I know I need to learn this skill.. So many rules and so much pressure! I'm feeling defeated
  7. Hey all! I accepted the position as Peri-op nurse and I am going through the training program (101) at the hospital for the next 6 months! I am so excited but I'm also terrified! That's so weird, right?! What if I'm not good at it? I signed a contract that says, I basically have to be good at it or I owe them my first born! It's such a different world and I don't know ANYTHING!
  8. Why a dyed or undyed preference, just out of curiosity? I start an OR training program soon and I'm trying to get a head start!
  9. I gave them the records and wrote a letter explaining everything. My teacher told me to take ownership and be remorseful in the letter. I'm still waiting to hear back. I was told if they do say no, a lawyer can write a letter appealing it and a letter shouldn't cost too much...good luck! I'm keeping my fingers crossed hard or else I'll have to move back to fl I guess....
  10. 2 duis and other small charges almost 10 years ago. Florida had no problem with my background but I'm trying to get liscened in Colorado and I'm getting some heat.. They want all court documents and a bunch of letters!! Getting nervous, I DONT want to move back to Florida! Help, advice, anyone?!?!
  11. 2 duis and some other little stuff almost over 10 years ago... I'm liscened in Florida and trying in Colorado. They want a bunch of documents rand letters. I'm so nervous! I dont want to move back to Florida! Any encouraging words or advice? 😢😢😷😷
  12. I'm a RN in Florida and I just moved to Colorado, got a letter from the board of nursing in Colorado! Help anyone? I'm freaking out!!! This stuff was almost 10 years ago and Florida didn't even bat an eyelash about it. They want all my criminal hx and records with a letter of who what where when and WHY...no felonies. Do I need to move back to Florida?!?!

This feeling will not go away until you graduate! It only gets worse... I was in the same boat with a very expensive private nursing school. I saw people failing out near the end and I thought how awful that was that they were that far in debt! Use that feeling to encourage yourself!!!
  14. Trust me when I say I'm not trying to brag but I passed my exit HESI on the first try and passed my nclex in 75 questions...my point is...is be strong you can do it
  15. I had my second baby right smack in the middle of nursing school... unplanned! It makes a difficult time even more difficult but with even more determination, it is definitely possible.I even breasts feed the entire time through clinicals! Oh yeah and I should mention the lack of sleep...
