New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

457 visa is a working visa.

To be able to get this new rules July 2012 in regards to ielts is that you have to obtain 5 in all sub test ( GT general training not Academic)

TO APPLY FOR PERMANENT RESIDENT ielts score must be 6 in all sub test under GT as well.

AHPRA requires 7 in all subtest to be able to register as AU RN and its ACADEMIC.

hello erikadioza,

where did you get this info? that is good if it is GT and at list 5 in all subtest for us to get 457 visa? can you give us the link.. thanks...can i have your number?are you here in the phil? skype id?so that we could call each other.

..and just how safe a nurse you think one would be, with a general IELTS of 5!! heading for malpractise and de registration, I would say.

You may think you know english well, (as many have found out, do not), but never worked in a multicultural country, where only english is spoken in the health system only english with various accents. You need to know it well and think in it quickly.

hi shaneyney! thank you so much for your reply. big help. :) i hope you don't mind if i ask you more questions. :)

do i still need to submit a letter from my secondary school that proves that the curriculum was taught in english?

i don`t think so. that`s why you should take an ielts exam to show that your english skills are sufficient.

another thing, i think i cannot get a statement of service for my training. i was told that my (paid) training cannot be considered as volunteer nursing since i wasn't hired anyway. i don't understand why, although i paid for my training, i also gave my services for free. that's why it's called volunteer nursing right? i'm still hoping i could get an sos. all i'm asking for is a statement that i worked for that hospital as a trainee. :(

i don't know, two of my certificates indicate "post-graduate course in clinical nursing practice" and the other one is a "critical care nursing internship program". so i guess it should really fall under internship? that would save me time to get an sos, but would cut a few precious years off from my nursing experience. advice, anyone? i'm really confused.

i don`t completely understand this part, sweetie. but to put it simply, on your cv, i guess internship would refer to the institutions you had your rotations in during college. now anything you had after that is considered work history. whether the certificate states "internship" if you took it after graduation, it is automatically under work history.

okay so do you mean the institution where you offered your services for free didn`t even award you a certificate of training or something of that sort? if they gave you one, you could use that.

i`d say this again, it doesn`t necessarily have to be a "statement of service". make one only if you can. those certificates you have mentioned above can do, just for as long as they clearly state the role you did, the number of hours you spent, etc.

hope this helps. have a good day!

Beg to differ, if you are given a visa on the condition that you are offered the job because no local was available and one of the needs is to have a profession that has an english requirement - you must have that equivalent and that is 7 IELTS academic.

IM just referring to the GT in here not the nurses ones... My hubby has been offered a 457 with a sponsor employer.. not related to healthcare.

But as for us nurses Academic 7 is a must and employer to sponsor you under 457 is definitely a must..

sorry for the confusion in here...

Many thanks for your reply dear. I found my case officer to be pretty fast, because once she processed my payment ,in an hour she asked me about the additional documents.I inquired her about CPD, She replied me in couple of hours. Do you think i should request her to transfer my documents now? will she feel bad? very confused.

Specializes in ER/ Radiology Nurse.

Saw this at the ETEA Website.

ETEA's assessment for accreditation is ongoing and as of the moment they are accredited to give the IRON Course until September 30, 2012.

Its nice that they have given some tangible evidence that accreditation has been organised and on its way, after not appearing on approved list.:) to relieve those students needing places in future courses and those who :yelclap:have paid.

however, im still not relieved since the accreditation is until September 30, 2012 only. I emailed somebody from ETEA and she told me that they are still accredited and the accreditation is for 5 years. Maybe that's if the assessment is finalized already.

I am still praying though that I would be in the September 2012 intake :)

When I called up ANMAC the lady from the accreditation department told me that ETEA is not in the list of accredited schools. She even asked me if I paid the tuition fee already. But she also told me there would be a board meeting this week and the result will be posted after approximately 6 weeks in ng NMBA website.

I would hope if ANMAC had any problems with the accreditation, that they would announce something as they would not want people paying for the course, if it was not going to happen.
