New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

There is no change in long term business visa - 457 or any sponsored visa. As after a few months your employer can sponsor then for permanent visa.

The change is in the skilled independent visa - you cannot put in application anymore, you must put in expression of interest and there will be caps in professions, apparently.

It is already very difficult for a nurse without any experience to get the 60 points required to put in expression of interest, as you need about 3 years experience overseas first, but this way will be difficult as employers will take from the EOI's and I doubt whether any will expressly put on a nurse with no experience, pay the fees and have to prove to immigration, that no locals where there to be offered the job.

Therefore to come to Australia with no experience or very little and get work you will have to rely soley on finding an employer to sponsor, which has been the way all along really.

hi salad2010 :) do you have your visa already? oh and did you avail of any health insurance? done with the ecourse?

Hey, I was trying to respond in your message to me through pm but seems your inbox is full... Anyway, Don't panic about the health insurance. As far as I remember, It wasn't included when I applied for visa. BP schools requires health insurance. You might have to ask other peeps on here who went for business visa. Chee

I read from your previous post that you have done your BP at ETEA? when did you take it? I would like to know, how's the status of ETEA when you had your BP with them> because, ETEA is not on the list anymore for the approved program of study on the AHPRA website... How much did you pay before when you had your BP with ETEA. And can you give us info on how's the BP with them?>is it difficult? Did you find an employer immedaitely after the BP. hope you could give us updates. cheers...

457 visa is a working visa.

To be able to get this new rules July 2012 in regards to ielts is that you have to obtain 5 in all sub test ( GT general training not Academic)

TO APPLY FOR PERMANENT RESIDENT ielts score must be 6 in all sub test under GT as well.

AHPRA requires 7 in all subtest to be able to register as AU RN and its ACADEMIC.

Dear friends,

I am new here. I have applied to AHPRA-WA, they received my documents on 25th June. I got a message from my case officer that she need some additional documents like CPD and reference letter on 4th of july.I am going to send it this week. Now, i am worried after reading all the posts, i came to know that AHPRA-WA is super slow. I am very much tensed and fingers crossed. can anybody tell me when can i get my LOE?

Many thanks in advance

Dear friend,

When did you apply to AHPRA WA. Did they do any reference check, if so did they call your workplace.

I was told there was no changes to 457 visa and it required a higher score in english if your employer needed a higher standard for you to do the job and that was IELTS 7.

hi! i strongly suggest to have your application transferred to ahpra vic before sending your additional docs. submitted mine december 2011 to ahpra wa, 5 mos passed still no loe. requested to have my application transferred may 25th. got my loe from ahpra vic june 22. if your application got transferred to ahpra vic they will assess it again and see if you really need to submit those docs and other docs as well.
