Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hello everyone!i know ahpra requires all7 band score for registration..but has anybody in here tried submitting an overall band score of 7.5 but with a 6.5 in just one of the subtests to ahpra for assessment and still got their loe?
i know we still need to resit to be registered, but for the assessment part, would it still be possible to get loe?
thank you!
some of my friends were able to get their loe and did the bridging program and they were able to register without ielts but instead they presented the certificate of english... that is, if you were able to get your loe before september 2011 coz , they have revised the requirements...
question guys. has anyone applied just recently to ahpra? can i inquire if this is indeed the new fees:
Assessment Fee $220.00 + Application Fee $160.00 + $ Registration Fee $160.00 = a total of $540 AUD
can anyone please verify this one? :) also, is the reference letter from your HN an additional requirement? how does this look like? can this doc state your job and responsibilities and countersigned by the HN?
any new requirements? someone please help :) thank you so much!
just give a try to submit your application to AHPRA, what if you will be given a chance to be granted the precious LOE. After receiving the LOE, some schools for BP are not very strict for the IELTS, as long as you have your LOE after the BP you can now register to AHPRA as a NURSE. receiving the LOE means you are already register in AHPRA but it is just pending coz, you need to finished the BP and finally you will be registered OFFICIALLY...this is just my opinion.. but for me, I advice you just give a try, send it so that you will know the result..Goodluck
What would you suggest that one (applicant) writes in response to the question 23.in the application form:
""27. Which of the English language examinations listed below
have you successfully completed?
International English Language Test System (IELTS)
- academic module, with a minimum score of 7 in each of the four
components of listening, reading, writing and speaking
Occupational English Test (OET), with an overall pass and with
grades of A or B only in each of the four components of listening,
reading, writing and speaking
Date the exam was completed: DD / MM / YYYY""
No? this is a requirement, otherwise it would not be asked in the application. Before sept 19 2011, applications excepted, education in secondary school and university and the form asked the question have you the Ielts or OET or taught in english medium. Now the application form is changed and asked this question outright - do you have an IELTS of 7 in all subtests in one sitting or not?! unless you are from one of the exempt countries, the Phillipines is not exempt.

it is a requirement, but it is confirmed that some were able to answer NO to the question and they presented the certificate of English..and they are now registered and working as a Nurse in Australia.
that is if you recieved your LOE before september 2011

It`s true. I know people who were successful in obtaining an LOE with the same problem.
But if you ask me, it`s way safer and legit to get a 7 in all subtests. You don`t know what kind of complications could arise from pushing through without meeting the requirements.
hi everyone,i would like to ask if i need to go directly to IDP for my IELTS result to be sent to AHPRA or do i just need to coordinate with my review center who facilitated the application back when i was about to take it?
any feedback would be appreciated. thanks in advance.
If you`re not from Manila, like me. You could download a request form from their website, fill it out and mail it with a Manager`s check. That`s what I did, and it worked out well.
hello Shiey!what exactly do you mean by "less steps in the process"? I should have PMed you but I'm still short of the 15 posts. again TIA
my friend told me that when they applied they submitted documents and processed their visa, when they got there they studied, then before finishing they submitted docs again for aphra registration and processed again for their new visa..cant remember anymore if he mentioned about transition visa or that was my other friend.. anyway, he said iron prog seems easier and more doable especially if i will do it myself. he had an agency to help him with all the process though..
goodluck!
hi i am just new here.. can someone please help me..
I already have my LOE with a validity of 2 years, I got this letter before the said english requirements ( september 2011 ). I received my letter march 2010. AHPRA just requested me for the english certificate instead of IELTS. Now i will be enrolling in a BP school, and after that register as a nurse. I called ahpra, that after doing my BP I asked them if should i present the IELTS for me to register.? I told them that my LOE was recieved before september 2011 that they only require me for english certificate. They told me but just via verbal only without an email or black and white document for my copy. They told me that i just need to present the certificate of English instead of IELTS because my application with AHPRA was covered before the new rule applied.
what is your opinion about this?
what about the 457 visa? should i be eligible for it ? do they require IELTS for the 457 visa be granted?
Please help.
