Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hi there, how long the etea process your application? I know they have all year round program but it is so expensive! Im free to do any bp only november onwards.Chhershello. Anyone there bound for ETEA October 2012 intake. I am heading off to Australia this October. Please leave a comment ...Thanks...
Hi guys, i just got my LOE from ahpra few weeks ago and also confuse which iron provider to go with. la trobe is one of my choice as im still working up to november. Lets update each other as we are potential classmates.Cheers
Let's pray for that... Hope we can get into Jan2013 intake of LTU. Keep in touch... Where are you from by the way?
hello everyone!
I know ahpra requires all7 band score for registration..but has anybody in here tried submitting an overall band score of 7.5 but with a 6.5 in just one of the subtests to ahpra for assessment and still got their LOE?
i know we still need to resit to be registered, but for the assessment part, would it still be possible to get LOE?
thank you!

This is a quote of the assessment for overseas nurses from Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - Home
'"The internationally qualified applicant must meet all thecriteria of NMBA English language skills registration
standard including :
i) the International English Language Testing System
(IELTS) examination (academic module) with a minimum
score of seven in each of the four components (listening,
reading, writing and speaking)""
This would mean even to be assessed you must have 7 in IELTS, they will not assess saying that you must successfully pass a bridging course and pass 7 in all IELTS subtests in one sitting.
You must be proven to have good english communication skills in your clinical placement and therefore the bridging program schools should only be accepting applicants with the 7 all round in IELTS as well as this is the benchmark.
This is from the application form agos 40 for international nursing applicants:
""27. Which of the English language examinations listed below
have you successfully completed?
International English Language Test System (IELTS)
- academic module, with a minimum score of 7 in each of the four
components of listening, reading, writing and speaking
Occupational English Test (OET), with an overall pass and with
grades of A or B only in each of the four components of listening,
reading, writing and speaking
Date the exam was completed: DD / MM / YYYY""
