Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

gmker hi i am just new here.. can someone please help me..i already have my loe with a validity of 2 years, i got this letter before the said english requirements ( september 2011 ). i received my letter march 2010. ahpra just requested me for the english certificate instead of ielts. now i will be enrolling in a bp school, and after that register as a nurse. i called ahpra, that after doing my bp i asked them if should i present the ielts for me to register.? i told them that my loe was recieved before september 2011 that they only require me for english certificate. they told me but just via verbal only without an email or black and white document for my copy. they told me that i just need to present the certificate of english instead of ielts because my application with ahpra was covered before the new rule applied.
what is your opinion about this?
what about the 457 visa? should i be eligible for it ? do they require ielts for the 457 visa be granted?
please help.
I submitted 2 IELTS with overall band score 7.5 all 7 in two sitting but AHPRA insisted my all 7 in one sitting. Luckily last minute i got the all 7 and submitted to them within 3 months. Now I got the LOE for bridging program. Im dissapointed after all the money i spent for ielts and to consider of my 25 years of experience. This is a quote of the assessment for overseas nurses from Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - Home'"The internationally qualified applicant must meet all thecriteria of NMBA English language skills registrationstandard including :i) the International English Language Testing System(IELTS) examination (academic module) with a minimumscore of seven in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking)""This would mean even to be assessed you must have 7 in IELTS, they will not assess saying that you must successfully pass a bridging course and pass 7 in all IELTS subtests in one sitting. You must be proven to have good english communication skills in your clinical placement and therefore the bridging program schools should only be accepting applicants with the 7 all round in IELTS as well as this is the benchmark. This is from the application form agos 40 for international nursing applicants:""27. Which of the English language examinations listed belowhave you successfully completed?International English Language Test System (IELTS)- academic module, with a minimum score of 7 in each of the fourcomponents of listening, reading, writing and speakingOccupational English Test (OET), with an overall pass and withgrades of A or B only in each of the four components of listening, reading, writing and speakingDate the exam was completed: DD / MM / YYYY""
