Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

25 YEARS experience in english only, healthcare and educational multicultural country?I submitted 2 IELTS with overall band score 7.5 all 7 in two sitting but AHPRA insisted my all 7 in one sitting. Luckily last minute i got the all 7 and submitted to them within 3 months. Now I got the LOE for bridging program. Im dissapointed after all the money i spent for ielts and to consider of my 25 years of experience.
The reason people are not going the NZ route- there is no room in their CAP courses and applicants must complete a CAP course within 12 months from assessment from NZ nursing council.I think it is not that easy to get pr in NZ as well. Why do you not do skilled migration for Australia then not worrh about sponsorshipigration.Anybody here with CAP and IRON ? CAP cost around NZ$8000 work visa to citizenship easily available.IRON cost around AU$14000 and no sponsorship guaranted Which one do you prefer?
for those who had their interview with IHNA. what type of questions do they ask? can you please give me sample questions?! im so nervous! they scheduled me for an interview next week.![]()
According to the posts I have read here, it's mostly about MS or diseases that you often encounter in the area you had your experience.
Good luck!
Yes Ceridwyn, i would love to go Melbourne by skilled migration but with the changes in immigration law.. Not that easy when my age is almost 50. Even though im highly skilled OR head nurse, they will judge through paper only. NZ nursing council offer 18 month assesment validity. And after cap, nurses may get 30 month work visa to citizenship now.The reason people are not going the NZ route- there is no room in their CAP courses and applicants must complete a CAP course within 12 months from assessment from NZ nursing council.I think it is not that easy to get pr in NZ as well. Why do you not do skilled migration for Australia then not worrh about sponsorshipigration.
