New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

Hi everyone! :)

My IELTS will be expiring soon. Do I need to re-sit my IELTS before AHPRA will release my registration number after I successfully completed my bridging program?

Also, is IELTS a requirement in applying jobs in AUs? :)

I need your thoughts (or facts?)

Thank you very much.

You will need an unexpired IELTS before you register. You will also need that IELTS if you get a sponsor for work. You will need it for your visa. Read back on my previous posts re Filipino nurse that did not have valid IELTS.

Hello everyone,

Just wanna ask if anyone here has had an experience with sending the certificate of good standing from Saudi BON? a friend of mine is asking how it is actually done? thanks!

Not sure of AHPRA , though if they gave you your LOE when they were giving away Loe's without adequately assessing english, they may well ask for IELTS, as they have stated they can ask for it at anytime.(Bobby123 has first hand knowledge of this)

You will not however be able to apply for a working visa if lucky enough to find an employer as your profession requires the higher level of 7 all round here is the immigration link.

'"Where the nominated occupation requires a higher level of English (equivalent to IELTS test score of more than 5 in each of the four test components) because it forms part of that occupation’s registration, licensing or membership requirement, the visa applicant must have at least the standard of English language proficiency required for the grant of that registration, licence or membership.

This requirement affects all subclass 457 visa applications decided on or after 14 September 2009."'

hi glitzdelight... i have been been assessed by ahpra and was given the loe few months before my ielts would expire. your problem will lie in finding a bp provider that will accept you with an expired ielts and you will also need it during your application for work and on your application for working visa.

in my case, i emailed ahpra re the requirement of the school to have a current ielts since during the time of registration a current ielts will be required. to quote their reply "[color=#454545]ahpra has already assessed your english language skills and found your ielts acceptable to meet the standard. we can advise that your english language has already been assessed and no further ielts scores will be required of you from ahpra."

[color=#454545][color=#454545]however, ahpra has no jurisdiction on what the educational provider might require of you to enter into their program, so i suggest that you re-sit your ielts just to be on the safe side. hope this helps. goodluck! [color=#454545]:)

hello! just to be safe re-take your IELTS. in my case, when i sent my application to AHPRA, my IELTS was still valid. but when i received my eligibility letter, it was already expired. i applied for 3 schools that offered the bridging program and only one (ACFE) had a problem with my expired IELTS and requested that i submit an updated result. i decided to re-take the exam because i was advised by my relatives that the embassy or future employers may require a valid IELTS. good luck!
