is anyone signed up for "SCC LABOUR and TRAINING" here? pls pm me.to those who's done w/ bridging program or who knows anyone who already found a job there. Can you guys please share info regarding how to get a job after BP? or should the nurse send applications even before the course is done to an agency?
It will depend on things like what experience you have, where you are during your BP and your attitude. If you have a lot of experience and the facility you'll be doing your BP is willing to sponsor overseas nurses then all you have to do is show them how good a nurse you are - like Joiemike. If you don't have experience, I suggest while waiting for your LOE, try and get some (easier said than done). Even before you arrive in Australia, look for jobs as Carer or Assistant in Nursing. You should be able to work for 20 hours a week. Look for employers that can sponsor you after your BP. Don't wait until you finish your BP and get your registration before looking for sponsorship for work. You should visit http://www.careerone.com.au for job vacancies. Not sure about sending applications to agencies here. There was a time they could sponsor but I don't think they do that anymore.

Hi cheskaval. Just want to ask something. You're enrolled in IHNA right? because i was given an offer letter and they were asking me to pay 1000 aud for the enrollment fee. Now, do they automatically deduct it from the BP tuition which is 11,500 or is enrollment fee considered as an additional fee? (aside from 500 aud on-line course)

any input will be highly appreciated.

thanks!

hi! i also had the same question a few days ago. i called IHNA and the guy said that the 1000 AUD is included in the 11K invoice. =)

Well thats great news, our local nurses are to being considered first for a change! Is this not acceptable?

But it is the Australian immigration that is slowing jobs for overseas nurses, they have implemented more stringent ways of making sure an employer has considered local nurses before being allowed to offer an overseas nurse full time work through a visa.

I know that AHPRA officers and offices have better things to do than work out who are nurses from Phillipines and put them on the 'go slow'pile, it would be a costly exercise to the Australian taxpayer but also impossible to implement, most AHPRA officers would have no idea how many sponsored visas are available for overseas nurses, or how many are applying through the skilled visa program.

They just know there is a glut of applications coming from overseas and there is not enough time in the day to process them all in 4 weeks.

I hope if you are lucky enough to be offered work that you will not think so badly of every organisation that is not doing things in the time you believe should happen.

Your anger and impatience is not AHPRA's fault, but your country educating far more nurses than needed causing all nurses to search for other ways of practising their profession and helping the family. They educate nurses for export so that the money goes back and is spent in the Phillipines helping their economy. Now every country that did have much work for overseas are now closing the gate because there is enough nurses or cut backs, your anger should be towards the situation and stress your country has put you in, not AHPRA.

Hey mates, I'm not angry it's not worth it. I'm entitled to my opinion whether you agree with me or not. you sounds very righteous. maybe you're indenial of the situation that's why you're reacting that way I pity you. cool down you're acting like you're one of the share holder of ahpra for you to say those things. when they took our payments for registration they are faster than the bullet I salute them for that. now releasing time..only God knows when. Money making at it's best!!

Hey chekaval and baesa :)You only need to pay a 1000aud enrollment fee and the 500 online course fee to secure your slot. Those are included in the 11500 tuition fee so your balance to pay before the program starts will be 10k aud. You can pay either through bank transfer or credit card online. I had a hard time paying by credit card as they had a system problem on their website so i ended up doing bank transfer :)

It kinda ended up people arguing regarding the process so let me voice thing out. Ive been quiet for quite a while. First, no people is forcing you to apply to this country marcopol. I know its hard to wait and for far too long. But it wont help your cause to make tantrums. I mean there are a lot of people o the same boat as you are. I doubt that ahpra is making money for this. Aussie isnt that poor you know. If you cant wait then venture to another country. Thats all there is. I tried to keep quiet but its pain staking to read all you complaints. Try to forward that frustration to the nmba and you might find your answer.. And for those who are asking if there are a lot of jobs here, there is a lot. But very few are willing to sponsor for 457 visa. If you visit seek.com or any site looking for jobs they always put in the end that you must have your work right here.. But some were written that they are sponsoring. Let me site an example of how hard it is to get a job here. A friend recently finished his bp last nov 2011 in unisa.. As of the moment he still has no job. But i knw some that ended up having a job after the bp. Maybe it goes with luck i guess.. Its a pain reading this argument. Someone needs to step up to this one. Thnx guys..
