New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hey chekaval and baesa :)You only need to pay a 1000aud enrollment fee and the 500 online course fee to secure your slot. Those are included in the 11500 tuition fee so your balance to pay before the program starts will be 10k aud. You can pay either through bank transfer or credit card online. I had a hard time paying by credit card as they had a system problem on their website so i ended up doing bank transfer :)

Thank you very much wemon. This is very helpful.

As regards to the cost of "notary public"you can always haggle with the P100 to about P50.

thanksfor these information

re notary: its good to haggle as a bulk for all the docs you want notarized. Say, for all 20 docs at 1k? I did it with mine.

Hey tokiya. Do you mind if I ask what your email ad is? Or facebook account? I want to know details about Philman. I'm also working on my documents and I sorta have clarifications on the AGOS-40 form. I really can't pm you here cause I haven't met the required number of posts. A facebook account would really be convenient. Thanks!
Pm sent. my fbaccount is kinda restricted, but you can send me yours so i can add you up.ive sent you my email account. tnx
They have made claims on their Facebook that nurses they have helped are earning extensively more than 2.5million pesos they state nurses earn here.

going on today's rate that is 50,000 fair enough but 150 percent on this and even 200percent claim, which on 2.5 pesos is 100,000 Australian dollars which is not possible for an RN working wards in a public hospital not alone private.Around 50,000 to 65,000 au would be acceptable. Then do not forget the tax which will be quite high if not a pr or citizen.Y

2.5 M php is between 50k aud with the going rate of 1aud = 45php

They are claiming gross possible income

I have talked to one of their former client and he is receiving 5M php now . . . would that be possible for a specialty nurse?

Hello fellow nurses!

I am new here and needs help regarding how to go about the process for migration in australia as a nurse. I am currently working for 2.5 years and my uncle is willing to sponsor me. I cannot find any threads here about it. Hope anybody can enlighten me.

Thanks! :)

What you are asking is a massive reply. Short reply in point form.

-immigration is different to obtaining an employer to sponsor you to work in a locals position for a time of 1-4 years.- this leads to emigration eventually you still need to be assessed by ANMAC even if you have worked in Australia for 4 years - it is the immigrations agency to say your quals are okay for immigration. You still need to be a Registered Nurse by AHPRA to get this okay.

-to immigrate independently, you need to be assessed by ANMAC and have your assessment for immigration, if educated in the Phillipines with no work experience in english speaking country, you will be asked to accomplish a bridging course/conversion course, ones shorter ones longer and sometimes do not need assessment by AHPRA to commence, but will to Registers as Nurse after completion. Your occupation also needs to be on the list, needed occupations.

-Once Registered with AHPRA and have okay from ANMAC one needs to apply for permanent visa/sometimes called Permanent Residence Visa. As from JUly 2012 you will need to put in expression of interest, at the moment you need and will still need from July 2012- to have enough points to qualify for this - 65 points.

For all of this you need a valid test in english OET or IELTS - 7 all round in all subtests.

Nurse with less than 3 years experience will have difficulties getting the points. Tagalog is a community language but unless assessed by translation services NAATI you cannot claim any points for such.

You can claim points if you have sponsor - though sponsor needs to be from a DIAC claimed, rural or remote area. If from a city like Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney - you get zilch.

-Different States sponsor nurses, but these often require, much experience, then you do not need an employer. You would need to go to the different states websites to see what occupations they sponsor.

There are rural sponsorships as well - need lots of experience for that.

PS and please note: pLEASE WHO READS THIS NEED TO CHECK FOR YOURSELF and FIND A PROFESSIONAL IMMIGRATION OFFFICER THAT IS REGISTERED WITH MARNS HERE IN AUSTRALIA AND CHECK WITH IMMI Department of Immigration & Citizenship

What most nurses on here endeavour to do, is do the bridging course, find an employer that has a full time position available and willing to sponsor them for a long term business visa for 1-4 years,(this is becoming more tricky than in the past) then they will apply for a permanent visa, to be a permanent resident after 2 years - all the benefits of a citizen, sponsor, centrelink etc etc.

PSS I have not professional training in immigration and only have obtained this information by people I have met and reading on the IMMI SITE

I have given you the link for nurses salary in NSW.

To be any clinical nurse specialist, one needs to have the university degree in that specialty, for instance, if one is specialist in ICU then to be paid as a specialist in that area, you need to have your Post grad certificate (whatever the university calls it) in intensive care.

or Post grad diploma, some have Masters.

So if one is a nurse with 8 years experience, with no specialist certficate - cannot claim to be a specialist in this area then the highest pay would be Registered Nurse year 8 only.

there are shift allowances and weekend allowances and if in charge at times there is in charge allowance.

These are for public hospitals, private pay lower.

Also most clinic nurse consultants, do not work shift thats why they get higher pay to cover all the allownces they would get if they worked shift and weekends.

If one is a nurse from the Phillipines with a straight BSN with work experience of 3-4 years in the Phillipines in intensive care or any other specialty, then you would be paid registered nurse year 3-4 (if you are lucky) no certs no diploma no masters in intensive care, will not be paid as a specialist.

How much is 5m peso's these days? Just checked on todays rate, 5 million peso's is $112,000 Australian dollars!!!!!

I know one nurse that gets near this and she has masters degree in management as well as a Nurse Practiitioner masters, with 25 years experience and has the responsibility of a hospital thats in a different state, but it is a lot of money, even with all the extras (shift allowances) for someone with 3-8years experience in any nursing a specialty or general surg/med with no post grad. (I am guessing this) in another country with a BSN only. 76,000 (if 8 years experience) plus allowances of $38,000!!!!!

Also FYI midwifery qual in the Phillipines is not recognised here in Australia, it is is a post graduate on top of a Nursing degree or a Bachelor degree in Midwifery to be recognised as a midwife.

Hi guys,

I called up Ahpra-WA today. The person who answered my query about the status of my application told me: "Your documents have been sent for final approval. We will be notifying you shortly."Hope you guys can call AHPRA-Wa too. Most of us are on the same boat. I've been waiting for 6 months now. Patience is the key!

PS: 25 April (Wednesday) is an official public holiday in WA.

It is a National Holiday - ANZAC day, day of remembrance of our fallen in past wars.

ceridwyn. i have noticed that you are well informed about registration process and general nursing situation in australia. if you do not mind i would like to ask you a question. i heard some romours from eu nurses who received automated recognition of their qualifications, and afterwards a registration status. what i am aware they did not have to deal with anmac to get a sponsorship. my question is, if i hold a eu nursing degree do i still need to apply for anmac asessment to get a sponsorship visa?

thanks.

Specializes in Pedia, MS, ICU.

i also want to ask. is private nursing and being a company nurse credited as a nursing experience?

has any one of you sent their application to ahpra brisbane, qld and got a response already?
