New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

Hi Baesa! When did u apply for IHNA? I submit my application and other documents via email last week but I didn't get any confirmation. I'm planning to send it via courier instead. How did u manage yours?

Hi bannockburn. I submitted my application first week of March through email and they asked for additional requirement a week after. I think you'll just have to give them time to evaluate your documents or maybe you can email them again to follow up your application. Personally, I don't think sending them hard copies would help hasten the process, on the contrary, its just a waste of money for your end (just my opinion though).

I am finally done reading the almost 800 pages. Kuddos! I am so glad that I stumbled on this page because just by reading this, it would save my family around 80k Php on migration consultancies who would just paint Australia like a virgin land for overseas nurses with a promise of greener pasture. Unlike this thread, it gives you a glimpse of reality making you more cautious on the life changing decision you are about to make.

I haven't started my AHPRA application yet. I have to retake my IELTS again sometime this May because I can't find time right now. I just want to ask some questions regarding my work experience, and I hope someone can enlighten me on this one.

My work experiences:

1. 7 months volunteered experience in a tertiary hospital.

2. 1 year school nursing

3. Currently employed as a nurse in a small mental institution that caters 60 patients max.

Is my school nursing off the list as a work experience because it is not a hospital setting? What about my recent job in the mental institution? Are institutions or small clinics recognized by AHPRA, bp schools and possible employers?

Thanks in advance Nurses! :)

Yes. It is counted as experience for as long as you are functioning as a nurse. I personally think that you should include all nursing experience whether volunteer or paid. (just my opinion)

Thank you so much for that prayer coz I just received an email from IHNA and I'am successful with the interview! :thankya: (now I can breathe! hehe) I really think it is just a formality, anyway they will ask you pretty much about your nursing experience, where most of your exposure at. Im sure you will be alright as well. Good luck! My prayers are also with you. :)

Wow! that's a great news! congrats to you katerina08. By the way, thanks for the tips and for being nice. hehe.. good luck on your visa application.

Hi Bannockburn! Cant help but to read your comment. Just try to submit your scanned docs via email. You can try this email ad [email protected]. Follow it up every now and then. Thats what I did. Hehe.

Thank you Baesa and Katerina08! I guess I have to stick with the email then. Thanks again guys! c",)

@baesa thanks for answering :)

@zrach: i applied for student visa as advised by my migration agent, but AAON suggested to me to get a 456 because it is easier and faster

hi ailene313! you mean to say though AAON is under CRICOS, we can still opt for a 456 visa? how long is 456 visa processed? i'm choosing between AAON and CON though, i wanted a 456 visa so i'm leaning towards CON. but if AAON and the 456 visa cann be a match, then i might think otherwise. are you for the june intake? :)

does CON still accept applicants for their june intake? do they still have a separate intake on july? :) and for those who did CON, do we have to email them right away our immunisation records with our other docs during the initial application or can we just send our immunisations as to follow?

yes AAON is cricos registered. they suggested that i apply for 456 because it is easier and faster, but as per migration specilaist's advise i applied for 575.

I see :( now im thinking of switching campuses. What do you think are the advantages of going to perth vs melbourne?

Okay, question. When do I actually apply for a visa? After I get a receipt for tuition fee payment?
you can apply for visa once your confirmation of enrolment or receipt has already been issued together with the other requirements.
@ Ailene313, Adyhottie- thank you for the reply. I did my interview on the 9th of March and l asked them when possibly would l get an outcome-they said in 2weeks, which is this friday. My agent also called the school yesterday and they said we should expect the outcome on or before this friday. Just keeping my fingers crossed l get it.........but anxious about the time left if l'm accepted for the April intake.
which school did you apply?
