New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

is it true? IELTS is not required anymore?

Try to backread a few pages, I think somebody shared something about this and others as well shared their opinions regarding the matter. :)

is it true? IELTS is not required anymore?

This is a quote from one bridging course provider in oz.

Dear Bridging Course Applicant,

Please be aware that we are enforcing our IELTS/OET requirements for our Bridging Course regardless of the AHPRA standards.

All overseas trained nurses must provide IELTS banding of 7 or higher across the criteria or an OET of B or higher to be considered for our course.

Kind regards

Hope this helps....

to xekie..

hi there! i dont know how to reply to ur private msg.. I think im Dumb or i still dont have that options hehehehe

anyways,,,,

in PNRC BLS will cost u around 1200 and it will run for 3 days.. the lady told me that for 6 days u can have the BLS with First aid u just have to add 500 pesos so thats 1700 pesos for 6 days.

in my side, i think i will just go for the 1700 option rather than the 7k training that u were saying.. So far, i think HPH is the only one requiring that certificate and we do not know if they will accept us for the bridging program. but still the decision is yours to make...

right now i still havent forwarded any applications to any universities, i only have the eligibility letter sent tru email but i still dont have the one sent by post ( the original letter). im still waiting for it so that i can start forwarding my documents and apply to as many universities as i can hehehe.

i still havent renew my bls, i dont know when will i take it.. im still thinking becoz in the requirement it says , the certificate should not be more than 12 mos. and i have to renew my BLS this august 23, but its only BLS i dont have First aid.. about my ACLS, my date of renewal should be Feb this yr... lets just hope everything will be ok.. im more worried not having any universities to enroll to rather than this certificate hehehe..

keep me posted , also tell me ur suggestions.. im really dont know what to do too hehehe...

God Bless!!!

hot_rod3484,

I still have less than 20 posts.

I applied to Castlemaine and Mercyhealth. noresponses yet.

How where you interviewed by ETEA? I'm planning to send an application there.

I hope that we can all start our BP this year.

Don't think waiting for the 'original letter' would make any difference with your application. As per previous posts, there are waiting lists. Don't just send your documents willy nilly, do your research.

Guys,

I know this may sound silly:p but for those who received the so dreamed and blessed elegibility letter, what´s in the content of the letter?

Just so I can daydream with mine....:loveya:

nothing really exciting. LOL.

AHPRA informs you that your educational is recognized by NMBA. In order to gain registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia, you have to undergo the BP within 12 months from receipt of that letter otherwise, youre eligibility will be forfeited.

.

During your visa application you have to tick the portion where it asks you if you intend to have multiple travels and for what reason (you have to state your reason). You simply cannot request for extension at the initial application stage... Whatever is the result of the Immigration Officer whether you tick that box or not is final as he will base his decision on other factors also like your finances and capacity to stay in Australia.

There are 456 Visas with a condition of "no further stay" so definitely you cannot apply for any other visa while in Australia.

I suggest you don't bring in your family first. I left my family behind as well to go for the 2 months program in CoN. Doing the shorter program is way more practical than doing a 1 year conversion program that is far more expensive notwithstanding the fact that you have to support and sustain yourself for one year. Having part-time jobs is not an alternative solution as the cost of living is expensive. On a student visa remember you are only allowed to work 20 hours a week. Think about the weekly rentals, utilities, phone/internet, food, fare, etc. After you do the 2 or 3 months program your registration will follow next and you can start looking for jobs... why wait for 1 year? As time passes more and more nurses plunge to Australia or Canada... you wouldn't want to fall last in line won't you?

Just my 2 cents :)

thanks for the heads up.

oh well, i think i will just undergo the 3 months BP and if nothing happens upon finishing the program, then i'll just head home to further gain experience and just apply online.

OR

my wife, who is also a RN here in the Ph, will undergo the conversion program and i'll company her so i will not only work full time (since she's in a student visa) but will also have the opportunity to find an employer since i will be a RN in Aus by then.

do i make any sense? :D

@gl25

yeah, will probably wait for HPH's call before doing anything. i suggest you look for a BP school already.. forward them your eligibility letter. just to make sure you have a slot at the BP school you prefer.

good luck to us! :)

if I only have 2 weeks for visa processing, what kind of visa do you guys recommend? 456 or student visa?

thanks for the heads up.

I think you will find that the dependent spouse on student visa is NOT allowed to work full-time, but 20 hours same as primary visa holder.

Is your bp school CRISCO registered then you cannot apply for student visa. Takes ages as well.
