Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
@reiken830hey why dont your try NMBWA? i think they have faster response than other state board. and they are very considerable. well just a thought.. i received my letter from NMBWA for just 2.5 months of waiting with some delays because of i was late in taking my IELTS exam.. but of course if you have relative in victoria well just comply with the requirements of NBV. anyway we also dont know what will happen in july but the important thing is to be RN in Australia.. That's our goal. Godbless
Thanks bro! Yes, that's actually the other alternative that I was referring to. Contrary to your perception though, I don't actually know anybody in Australia but I will comply with NBV's additional requirements regardless but this time I'll also submit my application to NMBWA as well to try to get into VCHN's August intake if my NBV plans do not work out. Time is money, my friend!
@reiken830
well dude thats great. i also submitted my papers in VCHN under NMBWA. i hope i can also make it for august intake like drednag. so i think if you are also in for august intake in VCHN we are now 3 filipinos there from this forum. and i hope more filipinos will join us haha.. anyway start your application now with NMBWA its not too late bro. Godbless..
Hey, Reiken..I still haven't received any communication from NBV, bro...Im still on waiting mode on that aspect...as with VCHN, I am just waiting for my official offer letter....
I hope you and lime12 (and the others applying) make it to VCHN's August 2010 intake, too...we are good nurses in the Philippines and, if given the chance, I know we will be great nurses in Australia... so, all the best to all of us!!!
Cheers!!!:bdyhdclp:
I just got the letter from NBV today and the case officer is requiring me to resubmit my certified documents mentioning that these should be notarized "on the correct side of the paper" tsk! tsk! I presume they wanted my lawyer's declaration and signature to appear in front of all my papers... and also wanted me to submit the original copy of my work statement as I submitted to them a notarized copy... Geez!This is really testing my patience... but I will comply nonetheless as I've no other choice... so drednag and other batchmates, any news from your end regarding NBV's response to your applications??? Looks like I might also try the other route that the others are threading...
Hi everyone!
Just finished reading the whole thread! very informative...everything is in here! Thanks alot guys!!!
@reiken830
Where should the lawyer place his signature? Im going to a notary public tomorrow to get all my documents signed. It'll be a great help if you could give an advise on where should the lawyer sig the paper. I'm also Victoria bound, actually 2 of my friends are also preparing all the necessary documents needed for NBV. Hopefully, the three of us will be able to submit all the requirements early next month.
This forum is really really (think of as many really as you can) GREAT!!!

Thanks to you, too, bro! As they say, if you can't get your way 'round the front door, there's the back door, and there's the window... Hehehe! If all goes well, we'll all eventually be able to pass through every obstacle that this whole process has been stressfully causing every Australian-bound overseas applicant. Keyword is perseverance! You should be getting your NBV assessment letter within the week or the week thereafter. It should be anywhere near my time line since we both sent our applications in nearly coinciding dates so be on the lookout for it, bro. And unlike mine, I hope it'll be smooth sailing for you when you receive that coveted letter, otherwise, you already did the right contingency measure, bro
drednag and reiken hope to see you bro in VCHN on august 2010.. i hope we will have a successful application. and i hope we will become an ausi RN soon.. Goodluck to us.. we ROCK... haha
Yep, couldn't agree any better, bro! :mnnnrsngrk:

Hi, bro! On the checklist it was mentioned that the certification of the documents which included the public notary's signature and seal should be placed on the ORIGINAL face (meaning the front part) of each paper and on BOTH SIDES of back-to-back documents... The format might not really be ideal but what others did to create that "space" for the lawyer's documentation was they used long bond papers to photocopy their original documents and they resized their other documents that are in legal-sized papers (i.e. transcripts) to accommodate the lawyer's inscription and signature... I, initially did not do this format and went ahead of having all my papers notarized at the back since there were others that did not have a problem with this but it's true that all applications are assessed on an individual basis so I took the risk but unfortunately the case officer that is processing my papers insisted on having my documents notarized on the front part. So, that's a lesson learned, bro. Hehe! Hope this enlightens you and your friends :)
Hi there I have another question here. I hope somebody answers this.
I went to an education consultant and he mentioned about the GAP program. He described it as similar to the BP that you have mentioned. I asked him about BP and GAP. But he said he is only familiar with GAP. So I'm wondering if....
1. Is GAP program similar to the bridging course?
And then he mentioned about the second option. I have to study for two years in NMIT (An australian school). I will study a vocational course related to nursing. It will cost less (about 6000 AUD-w/out the show money)
So for me it's a nice option because it costs less plus I can avail the permanent residency after. But it seems a long way before I get the title as an Australian nurse there. Although I have the choice to do the bridging course after.
So what do you think?
