New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

@lime12..hey, dude...replied to your PM already, been so busy lately, I just had the chance to surf the net today...good luck on you application to VCHN...Im sure you can make it. :)

@wahine, thanks! hey, i did not know that blinq got into VCHN also, although I know her too..she just left for Curtin, right? there are other davaoenos going to VCHN..check out the nurses2Nz forum..there's a thread there discussing VCHN, I think you're a member too, right? really? you waited 1 month before you got a reply fom VCHN? actually, upon the advise of a forumer at Nurses2Nz, I waited one week after I submitted my application, then I was the one who called up VCHN, and the one in charge told me they were trying to call me up..then he proceeded to ask me questions, basic ones, mostly about my qualifications...then he asked me when I wanted to enter VCHN and I told him July, but he said August would be the earliest..so that's it... I am still waiting for the official letter of acceptance, though...but he said I got in already..so, you applied to VCHN even without the NBV letter? Me, I used my NMBWA letter for my VCHN application...:D

best of luck to all of us!!!

Specializes in MS, ER.

@therooftoop..kinda busy this past few days..My IELTS exam will be on March 27.

@derednaq..congrats!

You need to contact the Board of Nursing in Australia and email them.

IELTS score 7 overall band. SOmeone said to me that it is more easier to go to New Zealand than in Australia, maybe try New Zealand first then come here to Sydney.

Has anyone enrolled in ETEA?

hi guys! i'm new here. i know it's nearly impossible to pass the challenge test part a for queensland. but some friends and i dared to take it. i am not expecting to pass the test, but at least i couldn't say i didn't try. some of my friends will even be taking the test in april, without any modules available.

if we don't pass the test will we still be able to reapply in july?

what's etea?

bro, etea one of victoria's bp provider.:)

oh, thanks. i just took the part a challenge test for qld. i don't have my results yet. but i'm not optimistic about it. you think i can still reapply in july if i don't pass the challenge test?

oooops..sorry! you're a girl...:D as far as i know, some of my friends took the cas pathway like you. recently, i just knew from her that she's worried about the halting of qld application maybe it's because of the up coming national registration this july 2010. yeah! that's nice to be optimistic about it. soon.. one of these days you will get a positive result from them "who knows";) good luck to you and god bless you

lol. that's okay.

thank you anyway. :)

god bless you too.:)

I just got the letter from NBV today and the case officer is requiring me to resubmit my certified documents mentioning that these should be notarized "on the correct side of the paper" tsk! tsk! I presume they wanted my lawyer's declaration and signature to appear in front of all my papers... and also wanted me to submit the original copy of my work statement as I submitted to them a notarized copy... Geez! :uhoh3: This is really testing my patience... but I will comply nonetheless as I've no other choice... so drednag and other batchmates, any news from your end regarding NBV's response to your applications??? Looks like I might also try the other route that the others are threading...
