New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Congrats drednag! :yeah:is it for NBV or NMBWA?

hi...did I read this right ? Bridging program will be stopped? Where was this announced? Please confirm this ...thank you

this is right... contact CURTIN for details... i am now enrolled for conversion, since BP was no longer available just before i lodged my application last year... hehehe..

Does VCHN have an early exit option?

Thanks, guys! Now, I have to start saving for the tuition and other expenses. :uhoh3::D

NewMac, for my VCHN application, I used my NMBWA letter of assessment, I havent received my NBV letter yet. The duration of VCHN's BP is only 3 months... I dont think they have an early exit option (?)...Im not sure. Theoretical is at their Heidelberg campus in Victoria, then clinical placement will be in Perth.

Best of luck to everyone. :yeah:

the institutions are presently not offering "bridging programs" because they are apprehensive yet since there are still no final policies and guidelines with regards to BP in the upcoming July 2010 set-up. Thus, to be safe, they are temporarily halting the program, but expect BP to be offered again after July 2010 once the new policies/guidelines are in placed from which the institution will based their BP curriculum.

@newmac, thanks, dude...apparently august is the earliest..I applied for July intake but they said that it is already full...some Davaoenos who've applied earlier got into the May 2010 intake. Hopefully there will be no major changes this July on the BP..keeping my fingers crossed. Although Im still keeping my faith on my NBV application...never say die...hahahaha :D

@haoyin, thanks, bro! and thank you for your advise..really got me thinking :uhoh3:

@lime12...Im sure you will get into the August intake. After I submitted my application and the attachments through email, I waited for a week and called up VCHN. Apparently, they've been trying to reach me but couldnt get through my cellphone...anyway, the questions they asked were very basic..work experience, etc. ... yup, if I go to VCHN, I might get their acommodation package with all those inclusions (processing of visa, job placement, etc)...just pm me if you have questions...good luck on your application, bro! :D

@drednag

dude i sent you 2 PM i hope you received it and you will reply soon.. thanks a lot bro..

@Drednag Congrats, mate! Are you referring to Blinq, the one who made it to the May 2010 intake of VCHN? She was supposed to give me her slot but we didn't think it's possible. So what will you do if the NBV letter arrives?

@lime12 I sent my application to VCHN last Feb. 14 '10 but they called me just yesterday so that's about a month's wait. They said they were waiting for my reply when they have not even acknowledged my application. They can't make a decision yet until they get the NBV letter so I should send it to them as soon as I receive it.

Lithotomy..dude better focus on your IELTS..and besides I'm not working for PGMA..tsk.tsk.. I'm under DOLE program but not assigned in rural areas . I was assigned in one of the airbase hospital in Philippine Air Force..cool..anyway thanks to allnurses.com, without the forum I wouldn't be able to get a job..hehe..

I wonder what happened to narscathy, she hasn't posted in 5 days. I hope she wasn't hurt in the airbase! Narscathy are you OK? Hope you are safe!
