New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

And just for the record I'm not mad at you wahine888. I know you were just being diplomatic, based on another poster's comment. Peace to you bro :)

I know where you're coming from as I personally feel there are some who posts unnecessary stuff all the time and yet... :lol2:

Anyway, according to Mr. Webster a forum is a place for open discussion; a medium (as a newspaper or online service) of open discussion or expression of ideas; a place involving open discussion.

Oh well to each his own... Some people just don't appreciate... I guess.

Ciao. Seriously... Ciao!

Haoyin :D

yer posts have been tremendously helpful to all of us.

I hope you still continue posting....

cuz you sure do make a lot of sense!

this thread is my one stop shop:D

Hmm... Right after my handle there's a blue symbol with an arrow that points upwards that indicates I'm a guy. I will now get super sensitive and get mad at all those who thought I was a girl... Pffft...

Kidding... :p Well, in my hopes to share my experience to you guys I guess I did posts too much that makes you guys think that I'm a girl. I will go back to being a lurker in this forums. hehe...

waaahahahahhahaha, your post actually made me laugh, Haoyin..good one! Don't go back to being lurker, bro...we need the infos you have been kindly giving us, and we wont mistake you for a girl this time...lol:D

Thank you Haoyin. I feel better just knowing that I am not alone with my sentiments about some posters in this thread. And yeah, To each his/her own I guess..:lol2:

And like what uh_huh said, YOUR posts make a lot of sense so keep the info coming especially for the benefit of Victoria-bound nurses :)

Ok... can we now all move on with my "unnecessary" remarks?, i apologize if it sparked a [healthy] discussion. Maybe my remark was uncalled for or i just didn't explain myself vey well [which is not a surprise]. :p

haoyin, so you're a dude?! im in the same boat as the others, :lol2::uhoh3:

I'm a girl! 'Wahine' (wah-hee-nee) is actually the Hawaiian word for 'girl'.

@Haoyin

It's really funny, how most of us thought you were a chick. LOL! It's not the length of your posts which led me to think that but the way 'Haoyin' sounds. For me, it sounds like a girl's name. No offense meant, ok?! I replied to your PM by the way.

If you guys have facebook account, I'd be glad to add you as my friend. Coz sometimes it's hard for me to post or respond to PMs for some reason. Chabeli and I are 'friends' already. Just PM me your email so I can add you :)

Aloha Wahine... LOL I thought you were a guy. HaHa...

Now 'Haoyin' is how my Chinese name in Mandarin is pronounced.

'Tong Hao Yin' for mandarin and 'Tang Khok Hun' if said in Fukien. :)

Now pm me Wahine how old you are... now I think you might be Hot (thinking of you dancing hoola right now)... hehehe kidding. :D ooops... I said id be a lurker already.

Thanks uh_huh, drednag and chocokat for appreciating.

I don't dance the hoola Haoyin! Nonetheless, I'm still hot. LOL! Kidding! Just adding a light tone [and unnecessary remark? =) ] once again in allnurses' most popular thread. My god, 4,000+ replies?! And still counting, apparently!

reposting, just in case anybody could answer my query:

after 2 months of BP under either student or short stay visa, you will be applying and (positive thinking) be hired as a nurse in Australia, hence, you will now process the conversion of your existing visa into 457 visa (working visa).. how long is it to process the 457 visa? weeks? 3 months? .. in that case, will you stay in australia for 3 months waiting for your 457 visa which would be very costly in terms of daily expenses? or will you go back here in the phils. and wait for your 457 visa here?

thanks..
