Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
May I join?
Sent my application first week November 2009;
LBC lost my application, learned about it only early December 2009.
Meanwhile, NBV received my Verification from PRC in November 2009;
Re-sent my application December 2009;
IDP sent my IELTS result first week of January 2010;
Emailed NBV last week, and they acknowledged that they have received my application, IELTS and Verification, however, they informed me that my documents have yet to be assessed.
Waiting mode
Ouch! I think I'm one of those guilty posters who publish concerns not related to the thread! Sorry to be an eye sore But, touche, this thread is a very long one that I didn't even bother to read the older posts anymore that's why probably I posted things that have been discussed a million times already. I am already taking an active part in the https://allnurses.com/international-n...ia-350995.html thread and I agree that the new posters who have just lodged and are waiting for the results of their NBV application should continue the discussions there. I am getting confused with this thread too!
So jakey, gemini star and the rest, I'll see you at the other thread. I will post my time line there as well :)
I didn't think you were being rude, NewMac. You actually have a point and you're just being frank. But since this thread is dominated by Filipinos who are super sensitive about everything, I understand that most of us are very careful not to offend anyone and sometimes we easily get offended, too :) And no, I was not offended by your opinion because sometimes I do get frank as well :) Monogamous, eh? It won't hurt posting in other threads so I'll see you in the other one ok? :)

HI wahine888, i like that word, "super sensitive"..because when i was new to australia ( well that was in the distant past), I was really sensitive and I have to unlearn it..I'm fully adjusted and assimilated well with the lifestyle and culture now, thus, we ( my wife and I and our 2 nearly grown up boys) call australia home...not only that I love being a nurse here in australia..i like the system, the people ..the country..:)
I understand and respect your point physteac when you applied the word "super sensitive" in that context. But contrary to your point of using that word with regards to adjusting to a whole new culture, wahine888's usage of the word I think pertains to posters here (like me) who react to words such as "unnecessary" like what NewMac posted. And this is not a foreign country we're posting ON. This is an "open thread" I believe, which happens to have a title that's broad enough to cover those who want to work in all of Australia's territories as a nurse. So I think nobody here has the right to be judgmental when it comes to comments of posters (going as far as saying that some posts are unnecessary) because I don't think it's stated anywhere that emotional comments are not allowed. And just because one post does not concern a particular person does not mean that it is unnecessary because that comment might be useful for someone else.
Hmm... Right after my handle there's a blue symbol with an arrow that points upwards that indicates I'm a guy. I will now get super sensitive and get mad at all those who thought I was a girl... Pffft...
Kidding... Well, in my hopes to share my experience to you guys I guess I did posts too much that makes you guys think that I'm a girl. I will go back to being a lurker in this forums. hehe...
I don't mean to ruin this thread's welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. But like wahine888 and NewMac I am also just being frank.
@wahine888: Yes I agree some people are "super sensitive" and that we must be careful with what we say. I believe that's a smart thing to do, not only on threads like this one, but also in real life. We never know how people around us perceive our words and actions. But anyway, who were you saying sorry to when you said you were also one of the people who post concerns unrelated to this thread? With what or who are you apologizing to? Who's to say what posts are relevant to this thread or not? Ahh... you must be apologizing to the MODERATORS. :)
I think all of us, whether Victoria, NSW, Queensland, Perth of even Tasmania-bound, have every right to post any comment on this particular thread just as long as we're not offending anybody or posting any derogatory remarks or comments and that our queries are somehow still related to nursing in Australia. Like I said, comments made by one may not be helpful to majority of the people here but may actually benefit another.
