New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hi Nykhouston, It's my first time to post in this thread, but I've been reading the post on this thread for a while. Can you please share the title of the books recommended by QLD for review? Thanks in advance :wink2:

Hi! alphakid, YES you are and YES you can. You have a lot of options waiting for you in Aus. But it depends where do you want to do you Bridging program. Most second coursers here in this thread,(my observation only). choose QNC, for a lot of reasons. But if you want know to more of these ask AELITH she knows best. She's the ANGEL of almost everybody in this thread. :D So, welcome aboard :yeah:

I give credit to all the people who have shared what they know here - if not for all those people, this will have been dead for a long time. So, KUDOS to Everyone! :yeah:

And Welcome to the thread too! Feel at home here lol :)

Don't worry, no one will ever Flame your post here! Everyone's just soo nice :D Gotta the love this thread and the people here :)

naku guys!..while i was sorting out my papers again, i saw somethng wrong with my TOR..the school where i attended my elementary was different..will it matter? i have sent my papers already to qnc..do they care about where you had your gradeschool educ? or will they only look at where you had your nursing degree?..waaah..help mee..what to do???:uhoh3:

Let's keep our fingers crossed that they would disregard that. But I would suggest that you also prepare yourself for the worse by doing either of the following:

A. Prepare the TORs again with the right School and keep it with you just so you'll be ready if they do question you and you'll be able to send the docx asap unlike if you'll just sit and wait ;)

B. Prepare the TORs again with the right School then send it to QNC with a cover letter explaining the need to send new docx to them.

Hope that helps a bit :)

sjbubbles 24: In my case, i just sent my certified true copy of TOR to NMBWA since it's already certified by our school's registrar.. with regards to the certificate of employment, 4vida was right, you only have to send a photocopy of it. no original documents must be forwarded... :) Good luck!

hi all. just wanted to share the reply from QNC re: ielts TRF.

they need to receive it first before your application can be processed.

this applies to applications sent after july 1, 2009. which means, i have to attend to the ielts first before submitting my application documents.

Hi, this is my first post and I apologize in advance if my concern has been addressed already.

I'm already here in Australia holding a student visa and had lodged my applications to NBV. They recently sent me a letter requiring me to do the IRON program. My IELTS scores comply with the standards but the thing is it will only be valid until September. Do I need to take the exam again or are there other re-evaluation/reassessment procedures? Is OET better than IELTS?

Thanks in advance.

Hi. I'm also on a student visa here in Victoria. Where in Melbourne are you right now? I have submitted my application and all the requirements (completed and sent everything last June) to NBV and currrently waiting for their letter to do the BP. Hopefully the letter will arrive soon. But I do not have any work experience but already a registered nurse in the Phils. My IELTS will expire on December. What schools did they recommend to you to take the BP? And if you don't mind me asking, how long did it take when the NBV sent you the letter? Thanks.

Hello jetsy24,

This is my first post on this thread. I've done my readings from the past posts for a month now and as I see it, having a student visa has the less hassles to get inside Australia (though more expensive than BP).What I'm aftering is, the working rights you get w/ a student visa. I jst wanted to ask if what course are you currently enrolled and how much did you spent, jst a rough estimate including tuition, visa, tickets, etc.How about the showmoney? I'm a bit worried they'll require alot.I need the idea of how much at least i'll prepare to get in there as an overseas student.Maybe I'l go for the cheapest course:confused: Are you having now your partime job while studying? Thanks alot if you can give me an idea on the path you're taking. I'm also considering schools in Melbourne or Brisbane depending on my available finances. God bless, hope you can enlighten me.Thanks in advance,i apologize for having lots of questions.
