Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Agree...too costly! all the info that they have are actually just the same info we can get if we just diligently read through websites...... or the shorter-path of asking Aelith, lol
LOL Chabeli
And to be honest, there is really no fast-track process for Australia even those people I know who signed up with the agencies actually took ages to finish their papers and all. You have to consider other factors that will affect the process - like bulk of nurses applying, intakes, visa application, etc. Such factors can slow down the process. However, those nurses that did it on their own, which you can find in this thread are now in Australia.
20k AUD is a lot of money that is why i'm having doubts. but of this moment i really dont have a choice. i dont have any work experience hence it may be difficult for me to find a job. that is why i am seeking the help of consultancy firms/agencies. i am considering the firm's offer (fast track 10k aud). i would just clarify some things with the... if you can suggest other options that would be excellent...

double check the requirements - the one i highlighted above.
Actually, it is not ANMC that is handling the National Registration but rather the COAG. ANMC is for Migration purposes. Please refer to the websites below for more information:
oh okay right! thank you for that correction.
and to myeanhe: that ION thing is very expensive. And what about this fast track that you're saying? Are you referring to the CAS? Thanks! :nuke:

Just a suggestion too, double check if they are 100% sure they can provide you employment after - see if this is listed in the contract you are to sign. If it is not 100% sure, think twice. Also, check if those agencies are legit, meaning they are accredited in PI as a recruitment agency. Consulting/migration Agents are different from Recruitment agencies as far as I know. Check also if they have successfully sent nurses in Australia who have no experience and have found them jobs as RN - if you can talk to those people that would be better.
I think I know what agency you are referring to because of the fee for the "fast-track" a.k.a CAS Just a tip, if you do CAS on your own, the maximum you'll be spending is around 4k AUD or so.. minimum of 1k for Challenge test pathway. The trick is to take Challenge test first and should you fail, you'll be able to do Education modules online anyway. If you pass 1,2 or all of it, then you'll be saving more money because you would only have to enroll in some modules not all which costs 1k each if I am not mistaken. Visa fee is only around 200 Aud and return ticket is less than 1k AUD. Living expenses is around 1k per month. Accommodation is not that hard to find and you can request assistance from the CAS coordinator for that - including airport pick-up.
Good luck dear~
hi applied QLD last may 09 and already received receipt and acknowledgment letter. however,i have not taken IELTS yet.. will they process my application even though wala akong IELTS? Once i'll get their request for my IElts result thats the time i will take the test.
I was told that starting July 1 09 they will no longer process applications until they have received the IELTS result. Is this true? do you think i am affected with this new req? i applied last may 09..
Thanks!

Maybe it means that all applications received from July 1 thereon will be subjected to the new rules? And just a suggestion, don't wait for them to tell you to take the IELTS, take it as soon as you are ready because it'll be more delayed if you'll wait. The main point of passing applications before IELTS is because assessment process takes a long time and during that time, you'll be able to review and take your IELTS. So, by the time they've finally assessed your application, your IELTS result is ready.
Hi, this is my first post and I apologize in advance if my concern has been addressed already.
I'm already here in Australia holding a student visa and had lodged my applications to NBV. They recently sent me a letter requiring me to do the IRON program. My IELTS scores comply with the standards but the thing is it will only be valid until September. Do I need to take the exam again or are there other re-evaluation/reassessment procedures? Is OET better than IELTS?
Thanks in advance.
and to myeanhe: that ION thing is very expensive. And what about this fast track that you're saying? Are you referring to the CAS? Thanks!
To Chiaren... the fast track and the CAS is the same. but with the consultancy firm you dont have a choice. you have to take the exam. and if you fail in one of the modules you have to pay extra to get the education modules. there are homeworks in the educ modules that you have to send through email or mail. but if you fail the fourth part of the test A (theory and clinical) you will not be able to take part B. hence, you will need to take the clinical module directly (160 hours in a hospital).
The ION course is actually a bridging program offered by the consultancy firm. it's 21k AUD. not 20k AUD. they not tell me which school will provide the course. they will only give me that info if i enrolled in the course. it includes the course fee, accommodation, assessment fee, airfare and visa processing etc...
to aelith...
sorry i did not see that one.... there were other institutions that offer the IRON/ICRON course in Victoria. just check thir site.
http://www.nbv.org.au/web/guest/courses-division-1
the list of the institutions is in a PDF format.

Thank you for the update. It seems like you are correct that QNC might have changed their rules regarding processing of applications. IELTS result should really come from the test provider, you will just have to request them to send it to QNC and this should be free of charge for the first 5 copies.
However, I would still like you to contact QNC to verify this. I think it might still be possible to pass applications without IELTS yet because your application docx will be coming from you and IELTS result will be coming from the provider. I think this should be okay for those who have already taken IELTS and are just waiting for results.
