Volunteer Nurses: Counted as a Work Experience?
Yes, because nurses, especially the new ones, continue to join those so-called "trainings" and pay hospitals whatever fees they demand just so they can have a "feel" of how it is to actually work in a hospital, to re-learn their skills after months of just reviewing theories for NLE, and because they hope that maybe by volunteering, the hospital might offer them a paid position eventually. So there, this "volunteering" business will never end if nurses will continue to pay just so they can "volunteer." I guess it's up to the nursing organizations, PRC or the government now. They should come up with a bill or something.

Philippine Nurses Association (PNA)
I'm thinking part of the 400Php collected this month of August from new nurses who registered to become PNA member will be used for conventions like this. Boracay huh?? Why don't they just host a free BLS training or IV therapy training for new nurses or even for those nurses who need to renew their BLS and IVT IDs?

Philippine Nurses Association (PNA)
This still holds true until now. We were asked by the PRC to go to the PNA office first to pay for the oath-taking fee (a whooping Php1,400) plus the annual registration fee (P400).

Share Your NLE Scores
i had 83% About the erasures, i don't think it's true at all. I know of someone who goes to this particular review center that has a machine reader(?). Every answer sheet they fill up were checked using the machine so on a particular occasion she intentionally shaded two circles for one number. The machine corrected it!! :stone

Volunteer Nurses: Counted as a Work Experience?
I totally agree! Nursing schools are increasing their admission of new students every year and by the time those students graduate, where will that leave them? And really, those employed nurses who are working in hospitals that take in "volunteers" are getting paid by just nagging the volunteers to do this and do that for them. If they get lucky, there are students too who are doing their clinical rotations which leaves them with nothing to do at all..

Volunteer Nurses: Counted as a Work Experience?
Volunteering, it seems to be the only job left for nurses in the Philippines. But who are we to complain, it's better than letting our skills rot and not doing anything at all. It's sad though that some hospitals even require nurses who want to volunteer pay for the "experience," "training" or whatever you call it.

Philippine Nurses Association (PNA)
@hobiecute: They provide a small financial assistance? I've never heard of it, but that's good. @spongebob6286: Yes, you're right, it's not cheap. I will be registering this Monday and we were informed that we have to pay 1,800 pesos! That's why I want to know what exactly do we get by joining PNA.

Can anyone tell me what PNA exactly does for the Filipino RN community? That's aside from what they post as member benefits at their website. Please enlighten me. Thank you!

thanks for the welcome guys!:1luvu: With all the options presented here something is still bothering me. What possible changes in the process of registration as a nurse in Australia will ANMC make? Any idea or news regarding this national registration?

I've been following this thread for a couple of days now and I must say, Aelith, you're a blessing! I suggest newcomers like me do some back-reading first, before signing up just so you can post questions here. Most if not all of the recent questions have already been answered by Aelith and other contributors of this thread before. So thank you everyone for keeping this thread moving! Very informative, indeed.
