  1. hi. if you can spare the time, kindly check out this other thread with a comprehensive discussion about options for Aus registration. you may also drop by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board for details, especially for overseas qualified nurses / international graduates, please visit the respective registration boards of each state/territory Victoria Western Australia New South Wales Queensland Northern Territory Tasmania South Australia
  2. hi pinkflower! :typing i would have wanted to congratulate you - very good scores in the 3 areas. but i know it pains you to fall short in one part... if you'll re-sit for the ielts, you can't take just one area though. and secondly, aus requires ielts results in one sitting. if i may ask, which nursing board are you applying for registration? if you want to start processing even with your new ielts scores to follow, you may want to take at look at NMBWA. but do weigh the costs of the assessment and their bridging program, if WA is not the board that you originally planned to apply to. as for QLD, they'll need your 7777 ielts first so this may not be an immediate option - unless you take the ielts again asap. as to the processing time - i am guessing it won't be too long IF some/most processing has already been done, as in WA. but if the ielts is necessary before processing can be started, as in QLD, then your wait has just begun. pls note we're talking about the board eligibility here for you to take the BP/CAS, no visa issues yet. don't lose hope - you've made it as far as a 7.5... just gather more courage and exude more confidence in battling the writing part. hope this helps! and do hit me some TY's if it has...
  3. hi there! i've left a reply into a possible alternative in the other thread you've started
  4. hi. there are also others who first pursue registration in aus - documents and bridging program/CAS through a territory's nursing council, then apply for either an employer-sponsored 457 visa or an employer-nominated permanent visa. :typing
  5. the points that you have noted Daly City RN are all valid. however, for numerous underlying reasons, with the need to support their families and the want of a financially-rewarding career topping the list, there are still high school graduates entering nursing programs. i do not know if in the next 1-3 years the numbers will dwindle, in the face of these realities you've reiterated, but it is also my fear that the numbers will continue to rise. from a philippine point of view - the costs of a nursing education here are currently prohibitive, and may even rise - which might discourage some nursing school entrants. but the fact remains - the country is overflowing with RNs and the options are limited, and lessening by the day. i am seeing though the trend on the NLE's national passing rate over the last few examinations - and it's gradually going down. is it a way of regulation? vis a vis the quality of nursing education afforded these examinees and RN hopefuls? i do not know. on the marketing aspect - the new RNs should continue their professional paths via a master's degree, continued trainings and specialized area exposures, even volunteer experience - but these too pose an additional financial dilemma. another 2 years and a thesis program, trainings especially in specialized areas, an RN volunteering in a hospital - the costs will pile up! and because of the law of supply and demand, volunteering can even mean an RN will pay for one's slot to volunteer... so, with the need to recoup some of the costs, or to finance these plans, including plans to apply overseas - other RNs work in other fields. but, on another note, with the interest to inspire - here is the story of the Cebuana graduate who topped the June'09 NLE --- :typing
  6. hi jmusic! :typing i came across this 4-month training course in up-pgh which might interest you. of course, this is an option, if you decide not to take a diploma/degree course in aus.
  7. congratulations to all new RNs who took the june 2009 PNLE! complete list here
  8. hi nursenette for details re: registration with NMBWA, pls visit their website here, specifically for internationally-educated nurses you'll need the following: application form and fee au$220, proof of identity (passport, birth/marriage certificate), ielts of at least 7.0 in each area, certificate of good standing from prc, copy of your board certificate and prc license, TOR + RLE, employment certificates if applicable. there are 3 course providers in WA - HPH about 10wks, DOH about 8wks, Curtin Uni 1yr.
  9. hi wahine888, where's a good review center here? pls drop me a PM thanks.
  10. @ CheAnne, if you have the time, there's loads to learn from this thread and this other thread, and this third one all here in the allnurses forum, just read back :typing
  11. hi. welcome to allnurses :typing just a quick rundown of what you will need to apply in NMBWA: a. application form + payment au$220 b. IELTS at least 7.0 in each area c. certificate of good standing (prc) d. board certificate and prc license (copy) e. TOR + RLE f. proof of identity - passport, birth/marriage certificates (copy) g. employment certification, if applicable if found eligible, you will be advised to undertake a bridging program, from either of 3 providers. experience is not required for assessment/eligibility. some BP providers prefer/require experience though. if you need more details, just follow this link to NMBWA and there's tons to learn in this thread, just read back
  12. hi all. just wanted to share the reply from QNC re: ielts TRF. they need to receive it first before your application can be processed. this applies to applications sent after july 1, 2009. which means, i have to attend to the ielts first before submitting my application documents.
  13. shubichilipepper and alma_kyle, thanks so much for the clarifications you have both outlined. this will guide me and others who are also planning to sit for the NCLEX. gosh, this just means i'll also have to request another set of TOR from my first uni :)
  14. hi! could it be that the transcript of training = transcript of academic record? this should be from the institution/school/college/university where you got your qualification, and according to Silverdragon102, sent directly from there, to the requesting body, and in your case, the NMC. ideally, this document must include: a. your full name b. the start and end date of the course, c. name of course and details of course content = subjects taken, # of units, may be from the syllabus d. number of hours of theoretical instruction and clinical practice = lecture, related learning experience (RLE) e. signature and official stamp from the relevant course provider. this is similar to the information requested in a CGFNS/VSC form, if you are familiar. your education provider might be familiar with this, and may require a fee upon your request (at least, from where i am from). to anyone who can add to the same, please feel free :typing
  15. hi all. just wanted to share what i have read by far from the nbv and their recommended bp, for those eligible. i think the ion course is the same as iron/ircon specific to this nursing board - initial registration (course) for overseas-qualified nurses. a pdf attachment available for download in the nbv site has listed about 13 providers. the cost of the course ranges from aud 6,000-12,000, varying per course provider. the duration varies too, between 12-14 weeks or thereabouts. for some providers, places/slots are limited. others prefer applicants with experience. i've also read about a pre-registration course for oqn, from another pdf download from the same site. only 2 providers are listed, duration of 11-26 weeks, cost between aud 10,000-15,000. details not factored here are accommodation, airfare and visa and employment assistance, among others :typing anyone with other information re: these, please feel free to add...
