Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hi to all!
I was about to mail my application to WA today when I checked their website. Surprised to see updates effective July 1. I'd like to ask if it's ok to go ahead and send my application even if I am yet to take my IELTS? I have expired IELTS and I'm aware that I need to retake it again.
Also, with regards to my certified documents, is the note "Certified True Copy" good enough? Or, should it really state "This is a true copy of the original which has been sighted by". All other information of the notary public is there (Signature, address, contact number).
Anyone who just passed their application this July?
Hi to all RN's planning to take BP in Victoria....hope to see you soon, or at least bump with you in the hospital...just be patient, I know NBV is doing the best they could to speed up the processing, as we all know, they have until June 30, 2010 only...and then, we don't know the new rules of the national registration body....im just confused, in the letter they said i have until 2 years to comply with IELTS and BP, by that time, they are not anymore the registration authority...how is that? Can someone share their knowledge on these matter?Thanks...
hello Farah! yep you are given 2 years to pass your IELTS and finish the BP... if you were not able to do so, i think you'll need to re-apply to whatever body would take over after June 30,2010...
NBV received all of my documents already last july09 (verification from prc and IELTS trf)...
I hope my assessment letter is on its way :)
from where are you Farah?
Sana we could bump into each other in Victoria :)

Hi Joy, Im still here in the Philippines, but if my visa application will be approved, I will be studying in ACU, Melbourne campus, take IELTS and do BP...
Yeah, I wish we could hang out there...haha..Im with my other 2 friends, RNs also.
Don't worry about your eligibility, I'm sure it's on its way...
hi jetsy24...I will be enrolling also in the universities in Melbourne, I also have my letter from NBV to do BP after I passed IELTS. Can you give me an idea of how much a student can earn in that 20 hours of part time job...just an estimate, please PM me.hi Aelith, do you have an idea re this...i submitted last week my student visa application...and i know it will take 1-3 months processing, and my intake will be on November, can i apply for another visa while my student visa is still on process? Lets say i apply for a 456 visa this August to do BP on Sept-Oct, cause 456 only takes few days to process...any idea? thanks
Why would you want to submit a 456 visa tho? But I think it should be fine - but please double check
I am curious about one thing, are you applying for a degree/diploma course? If so, it's not really gonna take 3 months dear... more like 4-6 weeks. The PVA part is the longest waiting time with an average of 3-4 weeks. As soon as you receive your PVA, just pay your tuition right away and you should expect to get your COE in a couple of Days and visa grant very soon after. PVA is only required for Assessment level 3 which is the diploma/certificate courses. PVA is not required with degrees hence, a faster visa processing. :)
Hi Aelith,Since reading this thread, i think you're one of the best persons here that has the relevant infos for everything. I've read fr your previous posts that you personally prefer to enroll a 2 yr nsg degree prior to registration. I've been thinking alot also of doing the same but I guess it's too way high expensive for me. Can you pls suggest me some courses that would be affordable or cheap enough at the same time will allow me some benefits/ award after finishing it? I have a friend in Brisbane, any school fr there? How mch is the cheapest tuition that i can get? By the way, I've been inactive from nursing for 10 years over now (personal reasons):grn:.Will they still accept me? (My license is always up to date, but my brain I think is not anymore:sleep:)In my case, what do you think would be best for me to do first? For the past 10 yrs. mostly my job is singing w/ my hubby and bros and a little partime jobs in private home nursing (occasioanally).Music is my passion really. But w/ the present economic turndown, i'm looking for some other options and alternatives esp for the sake of my 2 kids. Thanks alot for any bright ideas. You're such a big help in this thread:up:.

Hello dear :)
Welcome to the thread!
If I remember it correctly, if you didn't practise for that long then you will have to take a return to practise course - not sure if it applies to IEN. Either way, you will have to go thru the Bridging Program or worse, they'll ask you to take a different course. I am sorry I am not that knowledgeable on your case. But! If I do find something related to your case, I'll update you!
As for the courses in Australia, degree courses are on the expensive side having 15k AUD minimum tuition per year. Diploma or Trade Certificate courses are however half the price which usually costs roughly 18-20k for 2 Years. You'll find some other cheaper courses below that price but of course, I can't tell you if the school is that good.
The people I know took Courses leading to being a cook, hairdresser, IT related, accounting, welfare worker, etc.
Please refer to the link below for the full list of nominated occupations that you should check and the corresponding assessing bodies where you'll find the required courses for each:
Good day janmusic...why don't you asked your school where you had your nursing degree.Back in my college days, one lady went to refresher course in my alma mater for 6months to one year depending on your school.Being inactive for 5 years is not reason for you to give up if you really love the nursing field.Of course there's a solution but just have patience as you start your step forward. God bless us all...
....thanks alot dear for your encouragement..i may have to think it over what you've suggested because I'm not either in the Phil. right now.I'm currently engaged in another job way too far from nursing .If ever I'll do a refresher course, I might as well find a way to do it in Australia to lessen tha time and expenses. Hope can save more
soon. Thanks anyway for sharing your thoughts. God bless...
Thank you very much Aelith for the info. I'll do more research related to my case, whew! I'm starting now to get worried.Maybe the worst case scenario is to start from scratch, huhuhu... I hope you can help me more. Thanks alot and God bless.
Don't worry I will :)
I tried to do some minor research since I'm pretty busy at the moment and found out some things that hopefully will help you. I found out that you can apply for a "conditional registration" to the state board and then you'll be required to complete a re-entry course.
I have found this in NBV's website: http://www.nbv.org.au/web/guest/courses-return-to-practice-programs
Now, what I am unsure of is that if those courses are applicable for IENs. I would suggest that you could probably email or ring NBV about this matter to double check.
Sorry I'm not much of help to you but I hope this can lead you to the right solution for your case. :S

Oh, that was very fast. I thought it would take about 6 months. Hopefully, I will receive the BP letter from them soon. Yep 15, some lesser and some more than 15. It depends on what kind of work you are looking for. These days it is very difficult getting a job here. But if you're lucky and get a job asap then it'll be better for you. I'm being as thrifty as I can at the moment because I am not working yet. I'm in the SouthEast. Narre Warren. =)
