Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
As far i understand one sitting means one try or first take only to do the exam. If that's the case, it is very hard for those whose English is a second language. Please correct me i'm wrong. It's hard to evaluate your IELTS exam because you can't gauge your level at first.NBV means Nursing Board of Victoria.
Does anybody know the competency programs in New South Wales?
It's not the first try tho.. more like just to achieve the required score in one given exam no matter how many times you try to achieve it.
In NSW, there is only one provider and that is the College of Nursing in Burwood. They have multiple intakes per year.
Please refer to the following link for it:

you can always retake the exam til you get 7 in all components, but....
once you received the acknowledgement letter requiring you to submit the ielts result, you have at least 3 months from the date of the letter to forward the test result. if you would still need time to sit for an exam or get a passing score, you could contact qnc and ask for an extension. should you fail to do this, your application would be closed.
Me, 5 more days to make it 3 months of waiting..M dying to hear from them. Whats the date on your acknowledgment letter icejo ? Hope the rest of you guys are doing well especially does beginning with their applications. chocokat hows your IELTS ?
my sister filed it March 20 and my acknowledgement letter was dated March 23.i hope all the papers i passed are sufficient enough. haaayyyy:nurse::nurse:
Deakin's BP is CRICOS registered hence the need to apply for a student visa. You are actually lucky since you'll have permission to work which should be very useful when you get there to help pay for your daily expenses. As for the financial requirement, it is a bit different with a student visa since you will need to show that you have enough money for your tuition, return air fare and living expenses. The 200k you have is only enough for the living expenses, you have to add too, the tuition and the air fare if I am not mistaken.
yup it's already excluding the tuition fee since i will have to enroll prior to taking the visa. and I have to pay the tuition fee in full. so the 200K should just be my living expenses there and the roundtrip ticket. is it enough?
Hello people! Been out for quite sometime. Heheh. How is everybody doing? Just want to ask some updates. How long does QLD process application these days? Heard that the queue's getting longer. Is there truth to this? Also, can anybody tell me if being a volunter nurse count as hospital experience that can get you eligibility for HPH in WA?
I hope somebody out there will take time to reply. Thanks, thanks!
BTW, I missed this thread!
Oh no... So I really have to retake again if ever I fail one component and that I have to make sure that I will pass ALL in the second take or else... I'll retake again! Man, that's a vicious cycle! Huhuhu...
Anyway, just 1 more day to go! Gonna find out about it tomorrow. Yep Aelith I've heard of that OET. Too bad I just knew about it days after I have filed for IELTS. If only I have known about it before, I would have probably taken that instead of IELTS. I know it's very expensive but at least the test taker can have peace of mind because if ever he/she will fail one component then that's the only thing that will need to be retaken.
Well thanks again for those who replied. This IELTS is really getting to me...
Have a nice (albeit rainy) day folks!

Hmm.. double check if you still need to include the tuition fee even if you've paid it because i am not too sure with the short term stud visas. Because in the normal stud visas, you'll have to pay 1 sem to enroll but still need to provide a show money for the first year tuition (assessment level 2) or the whole 2 years tuition for other subclass which is assessment level 3.
If you are going alone, and aren't married and don't have kids, then I think it should be okay. I think if it's pro rata rate for the living expenses, it will be 3k per 3 months and 1-2k for return ticket. But if you are married, and have kids, then you will have to factor in additional expenses for all of them. Just remember, the more the better - exchange rates vary from time to time hence, the influx might affect the computation of your show money. also, make sure that you have all documents to back up how you got the money, including pay slips, coe, bank statement, etc.

hi, nope one sitting means, you have to pass all of the ielts components in one take. if unluckily you didnt pass it in the first try then you can take ielts again. qnc and nbv will accept your result as long as you have passed all of the components in one sitting.
NBV- Nurses Board of Victoria
as for the new south wales, i havent tried visiting thier website.. i think its the same with the qnc and nbv.:nuke:
