New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hello people! :D Been out for quite sometime. Heheh. How is everybody doing? Just want to ask some updates. How long does QLD process application these days? Heard that the queue's getting longer. Is there truth to this? Also, can anybody tell me if being a volunter nurse count as hospital experience that can get you eligibility for HPH in WA?

I hope somebody out there will take time to reply. Thanks, thanks!

BTW, I missed this thread! :D

hi angel!.. yup working as a volunteer nurse is also considered at HPH. :wink2:

But have they charged your credit card already?

hi chokocat!..i don't know..umm, how would i know if they charged my credit card already..should i ask the bank? i have not received any papers/receipts whatsoever still.

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of applying to Queensland, Victoria and other territories? I just thought I should weigh each option before getting seriously into this. Thanks!

Hello! I just received the acknowlegment letter from QNC together with the receipt of the $158 that i paid...I'm sooo happy and excited!...:roll and so relieved - at least now i know that my papers are being assessed already..God bless everyone!!! To God be the Glory.:yeah:

hi pastasana! I hope this could help..i had to weigh things up first also before i ended up applying to QNC.

QNC Pros: 1 day challenge test, 1 day practical test or 1 month clinical placement in Qld, NO experience required

Cons: the challenge test should only be taken once. If you fail, you have to do the modules which could take longer and a bit expensive

NBV Pros: no need to pressure yourself for the examinations

Cons: i think it's very expensive (around 8K for the BP?) *i'm not sure if experience is required..hehe

WA Pros: BP is affordable also

Cons: experience is required.

These were my choices..i have no idea regarding the requirements of other territories..

Guys, just correct me if i'm wrong with the above infos...this was simply how i understood things..hehehe:nurse:

Wow I envy you terranova! Yes at least you know that yours is being assessed already. Sorry I wasn't able to reply ASAP to your earlier post. But I was about to say that yes, you can call up your bank and inquire.

Good luck and God bless us!

you can only scout for employers thru the net and/or when you do your 1 month placement.

currently, it takes awhile for applications to be assessed.

nbv pros: no need to pressure yourself for the examinations

you can scout for possible employers while doing the bp

faster processing time for assessment.

cons: i think it's very expensive (around 8k for the bp?) *i'm not sure if experience is required..hehe

-- minimum is i think 5k.. experience is not required

wa pros: bp is affordable also

--hph and doh requires experience but not curtin

Thanks Aelith for the info. about Curtin's Bridging program,i emailed them 2 days ago about hospital experience requirement but now i know :yeah:

Curtin's bridging program is too long(1 semester) but still a good choice to those planning to apply without hospital experience.

DOH requires 2 years experience to attend their courses,BP fee is 2,300 $

Just wanna share.
