Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
to nursemavi and kt25:strange... i alrdy hve more thn 15 posts but my pm isn't actvated yet.....hmmm..
anyways... i have a bad feeling that my certified docs would be
rejected. "certified xerox copy of the original document" was the one stated on my docs instead of "certified true copy....". i know for a fact that xerox is commonly used in the phils as a term to refer photo copy. qnc might be puzzled about it. haaaayyy.........but i am hoping they would still consider it.
tel# and address werent indicated as well. haaay.............
gudluck to me. such a waste of time and money...
Certified copy of the orginal and certified xerox copy are the same. Let's keep our fingers crossed
What you have found is not a Pre-registration Nursing degree. That is just a program, a non-award course, that is specifically for Overseas Registered Nurses and Re-entry program for local Nurses who have not been in practice for a certain number of years. That is comparable to the other assessment programs of other states (e.g. CAS). It is only 11-weeks in duration.
To be able to apply for that, like what I have said before, for any bridging program, one must apply for registration to the relevant state regulating authority. In your case, you need to apply to NBV.
Hope that clarifies everything. :)
Yes it is. Just remember that a degree will never be only a few months in duration. The shortest possible is 1 year and it is not often offered by Universities. Some do have graduate entries while other Universities only have a full Bachelor of Nursing degree where you can apply for credit after enrollment to make the course shorter.
To clarify the issue, it would be best to address the QNC.
I tried to find answers too, however, I am not sure if that is what QNC meant in your friend's letter.
EVIDENCE OF RECENCY OF PRACTICE, AND FITNESS AND COMPETENCE TO PRACTICE
If you are unable to provide this documentation you will be required to address the australian nursing and midwifery council (anmc) standards for the registerd/ enrolled nurse. these competencies can be found on QNC's website.
If you are unable to provide the documentation for recency of practice, you will be required to address the ANMC's standards for RN.
In my own understanding, it meant you will be referred to undergo a CAS program or any approved institution to conduct an assessment and report for the council. You will need to meet ANMC's standards for practice of RNs.
This is my source: http://www.qnc.qld.gov.au/upload/pdfs/information_sheets/Professional_Standards/07_Concerns_about_competence.pdf
Hope that helps.

This is the link for Bachelor of Nursing course in Ballarat for International Students : http://www.ballarat.edu.au/coursefinder/display.php?ID=99
You can find there all the requirements for application.
But where did you get that? I wanna see the whole page to know if it's really the Bachelor's degree or not. I kind of have the feeling that is different because it doesn't say anything about a Bachelor's degree. Can you provide the link where you copied that?
See here:
Eligible to undertake RPRN or PPOQN. That is not a Bachelor of Nursing degree. You're looking at the wrong one I suppose. Could it be the Return to Practice course for RN? The other thing is that local students don't need to present any letter. They have to apply through VTAC.
