New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Before you guys panic, you have to contact QNC and clarify. Like what I have said, it doesn't say that the person will be denied if he/she can't provide evidence. It just specifically states that IF the person cannot provide recency of practice documents, then he/she has to address the competency standards of ANMC for RNs. That is all that is written there.

I know this is a big issue especially for those who have already applied to QNC but try not to panic for now. It would be best to email QNC. I'm sure they will be able to enlighten you on this matter.

Ok, I have messaged QNC about this issue asking for a clarification. I will update you with whatever their response will be. Let's hope that it will be a positive response. However, if the response is negative, you can always try to apply in a different state. I'll email NBV and double check if the experience is mandatory. But it is stated in their application form that you only need to provide documents of such if you did have experience. I'll give you an update on that too. Hopefully, we'll get answers tomorrow. For now, pray.

Me im on panic mode already... :crying2: well we dont really know what to do since i also lodged my application with them. The reason why im being like this is because i knew someone with the same credentials, same process, also without experience but he was able to proceed with the competency assessment without a notice from the Council. He even got a positive assessment only after a month. Its just now that they're looking for work experience. and i guess the processing time is slower these days.

I emailed the council already and I really hope that this is just all mere misunderstanding...or else we're back to square one. :crying2:

I got a reply from QNC... but they did not answer my question. They want the person who got the letter to ask from them. So, hopefully your friend has already emailed QNC.

i actually e-mailed them about this, and they failed to answer my question. it was stated in the e-mail that...

it is not possible to state in advance if your application will be accepted.

however if you have not practiced you need to make sure that you have stated this in item 5 of the application form

??????????????????????????????????????????????????

Yup. I had the same response when I emailed them last July about my case. I have zero experience too and they advised me to just apply because its a case to case basis and it is not possible to state in advance whether my application will push thru or not.

what did you register in question #5?

me.... I wrote no related work experience.

hi everyone ;)

Does anybody know the contact numbers and address of ANSM Consultancy for Australia? i heard that its located in Manila.

Please PM me ;p

Thanks in advance :loveya:

please update us if experience is really necessary in QLD.

tnx!

Specializes in none.

do you know any agencies in the manila that will help you apply work at new zealand? or how can apply for the training course for nurses.. it should be done when im already in new zealand or i can apply through online? thanks

Guys dont bother applying to Queensland Nursing Council. They now require WORK EXPERIENCE as a prerequisite upon application. Very disappointing :bluecry1::bluecry1::bluecry1:

EVIDENCE OF RECENCY OF PRACTICE, AND FITNESS AND COMPETENCE TO PRACTICE

If you are unable to provide this documentation you will be required to address the australian nursing and midwifery council (anmc) standards for the registerd/ enrolled nurse. these competencies can be found on QNC's website.

IMBACK!

HMMMMM! let me say that you guys are panicking for no REaSON at all !!!!!!!!!!!!!

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYY????????

Because you have misinterpreted the statement. This statement simply is saying that if you cannot comply with the recency of practice and fitness and competence to practice based on the ANMC standards for the RN's/En's. You will have to prove yourself by way of a challenge test or by way Distant learning (STUDy MODULES) just as to comply with the requirements of the ANMC standards. CAPICE?! now, how do you fill up item #5--- by way of a STATUTORY DECLARATION.email me for additional info's.

This is y it is an advantage to have consultant with regards to the process of registration!:p

hehe... sorry for the confusion!! My relatives are in beenleigh.

I will be starting my review for IELTS this month then hopefully take the exam by november or so.. I am hoping that I wouldn't have much difficulty with it because I am in the field of teaching english right now!

Is it possible to contact hospitals in the area that offers sponsorship for nurses coming from different countries such as the phils?I read one from a vertaon hospital in queensland that offers this but they require at least a year of experience and a passing score in IELTS!

hay... so hard.. confusing!!

Thanx so much!!!!

Hi helena! Could you please tell me more about the Vertaon Hospital that you have mentioned? I have googled it but I could not found it. How could I contact the hospital? I look forward to hearing from you. thanks
