New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand
hi chriscole. like what aelith has said, you meant registration and not studying because those are 2 different matters. i have corresponded with curtin university with regard to the program you were asking. the bachelor of science (nursing)-conversion program for registered nurses is a one year program. the estimated annual tuition fee (2009 rates) is aud$21,600. they do not specifically provide a bridging program, which is 1 semester, for nurses. what they offer is the conversion pogram. you need to provide curtin university with the approval letter from the nmbwa before lodging your application. it is quite a lot of money and i think it would be better to opt for a bridging program in private or public hospitals. good luck on your application for registration.

migrant bridging program 4 foreign nurses
@arwen eleven Congratulations. Better start looking for a nursing experience as you only have two years to comply with the requirement from the NMBWA. Best of luck.

Here it is: Entry Requirements Applicants must provide a letter from the NBV stating their eligibility to undertake the course before an offer of a place will be considered. Evidence normally required by the NBV includes: Local applicants - previous registration and experience as a Division 1 Registered Nurse. Please review http://www.nbv.org.au for confirmation of requirements. Evidence required by the University of Ballarat: Local and Overseas applicants - Written confirmation from the NBV stating the applicant is eligible to undertake the RPRN or PPOQN. - Interview conducted in person, via telephone or video-conference.

@aelith Its Ballarat University. What universities are they that don't require a letter of approval?

New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand
Hi aelith. With regard to pre-registration programs, the universities that do offer them would need, as one of their requirements, a letter from the Nursing board stating the eligibility of the candidate to undertake the course before an offer of a place will be considered. Does it mean that you have to have your credentials assessed by the board first and wait for their decisin?

So your saying that a certificate of good standing and verification of registration from the PRC is one and the same thing?
-
New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand
I have a question about verification. I was told by the PRC that since no form from the NBV is supplied for verification of current registration then all they need is a letter of good standing. I told them that the NBV needs a verification but they insisted that applications from australia only need the good standing letter from them. Is this true?

Thanks Aelith. One of the pre-registration requirements ive seen at Ballarat University does require a letter from the NBV that you are qualified for the course. Does that mean that one still has to apply for assessment and then wait for the decision of the council?

Hi aelith. If an applicant is denied by the nursing council would that mean he could not pursue any further application or would that mean the council would want you to take up the pre-registration course?

filipino to migrate in Canada.... what to do to become a RN?
To Janfrn I'm an OR nurse from the Philippines. Like most Filipinos, I ,too am planning to go to Canada. Would you advice one to go to an agency or do it on his own? I've read from this forum that a few nurses are applying in BC. Thank you.
