New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

to phoenix rising,

please never insult me in this forum, i feel greatly humiliated by ur posting.

u are not a doctor like doc branyan, and u have not to control my great admiration for doc branyan who is very proud for me to be d very very first filipino doctor to pass the nurse in bundaberg.

do not compare urself to doc branyan because he is my great insipiration to be registered also in australia. just like joe turtle i admire them very greatly. i wish them great great success in our profession.

gemma, it's not phoenix rising who is insulting you. you are unaware that it is you that is insulting yourself. you claim to be very very proud, but you seem to be selfish.you never realized that someday nobody will take up nursing in the phil. coz doctors are taking their part now. doctors in the phil. is getting downgraded by your admiration. wake up guys. you get caught by your inexperienced. i am defending nurses. nurses has ethics. right?????

PHOENIX RISING I THINK YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT TRACK. BUT I AM NOT AN ADMIRER. :smokin:

I'm planning to lodge my application to QNC and is now trying to gather all the documents needed.

Question:

Transcript of training - from school, right?

Where can I get the form for my school to fill out? I can't see it from the forms I downloaded. And it says here that documents (I assumed transcripts) should be photocopied and certified as true copies of originals. So, I am going to just photocopy those, have it notarized, then gave it to my school? Will I ask them(school) to certify it again?

What about the declaration of the number of hours of theoretical instructions and clinical practice, and course outline all bearing the signature and official stamp from my school? Do I need those to be photocopied and notarized, too? I'm kind of confused because when you photocopy something, more likely than not, the official seal/stamp will not be seen.

So sorry if I'm asking something stupid. I just wanted to have it right the first time because it's so expensive if I have to do it again due to avoidable errors.

Thanks in advance.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

OK guys, can we please remember no personal attacks on other members

hi ryan, how much is the cost of the program at Ramsay Health, do they require work experience?

hi the program at Ramsay costs $5,000...

experience requirement? somebody from here said, it is required, but Ramsay is a network of hospitals...if one hospital wont accept you, they will always look for another hospital in their network wherein you can do your BP.

again, it all depends upon the outcome of your interview with them...:D

just do good in the interview...

for more info try to email them and/or go to their website...i dont know if im allowed to post their website here, i suggest you might just google it...:)

do you mean transcript of records ? if yes, you get this from your school.

where can i get the form for my school to fill out? i can't see it from the forms i downloaded. and it says here that documents (i assumed transcripts) should be photocopied and certified as true copies of originals. so, i am going to just photocopy those, have it notarized, then gave it to my school? will i ask them(school) to certify it again? yup, just have your school certify it as a true copy and normally they place the school's seal or stamp like what they did with mine. just photocopy it and request your school to ctc ( certify it as true copy ). some have said no need to notarize it but to be on the safe side but nothing wrong with following the instructions

what about the declaration of the number of hours of theoretical instructions and clinical practice, and course outline all bearing the signature and official stamp from my school? do i need those to be photocopied and notarized, too? same goes with the rle, same procedure.

i'm kind of confused because when you photocopy something, more likely than not, the official seal/stamp will not be seen. photocopy it and just go to your register and have them place their official seal. some schools charge for certifying true copies..

hope this helps..

Where is everyone..?? Been so quiet in the forum these past few days

hi ryan..do you have an idea what is the content of their interview? thanks

hi ryan..do you have an idea what is the content of their interview? thanks

hi, i actually dont know whats the content of the interview. all i know is that it will be conducted either over the phone or in person...it depends upon the hospital...:)

so overseas nurses who are not yet in australia have the biggest chance of doing the interview over the phone.

for more info you can email them...good luck

hi guys! hi aelith! glad this thread is still alive!

i plan on working in victoria, australia. i passed my application to my aunt there for her to pass it to nbv. i also already requested prc to send my registration status there.

now, what i want to know is if i need a visa first so that nbv can accept my application. because my aunt says her "friend" says so. she also told me that i need the assessment of anmc before nbv can accept my application. i think her "friends" told her that also. lol

kidding aside,

1) my question is will nbv accept my application even if i dont have visa yet? when should i get a visa? when nbv already replied to me? and what visa should i get?

because i found this and this has a chart on page 4 about the steps in working in australia

http://www.health.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0010/192664/visa-and-registration-nurses-midwives-web.pdf im kinda confused on when will i get a visa (my aunt adds to my confusion lol)

2) what is anmc for? if work and migrate then anmc first? but if work only no need for anmc apply directly to nbv?

please enlighten me

thanks a lot!!!

yes they will accept it. everyone in here passed their application offshore using just the courier. a visa will only be required once you are assessed by nbv and are qualified to take the bridging program in any of the accredited providers in victoria. i'm 200% sure on this one lol.

2) what is anmc for? if work and migrate then anmc first? but if work only no need for anmc apply directly to nbv?

anmc is for migration purposes. they assess overseas registered nurses which is required for the skilled migrant visa category. for any skilled migrant, a positive assessment from the corresponding regulatory body is required. for nurses, that is anmc.

please enlighten me

thanks a lot!!!

omg gast! it's been awhile!! you were one of the first group i've talked to here lol :) i remember you asked me about the steps for nbv :p

hope everything is well :)

OMG Gast! It's been awhile!! You were one of the first group I've talked to here lol :) I remember you asked me about the steps for NBV :p

Hope everything is well :)

yeah its been a while aelith. its good to see that you're still here helping people out

i followed your the steps however my aunt there told me that i need to be assessed first by ANMC before NBV accepts my application. this confuses me

is it that if i wanna work and migrate i have to go to ANMC first then NBV but if i would work only then apply to NBV only

please tell me if i really need to apply to ANMC first

and lastly, what visa do nurses going to australia generally get? i've read about this in the net but i wanna see your insights too

sorry if you already answered this before because i cant read all the pages in this thread to find the answer coz its over a hundred pages already hehe

thnx a lot!!!
