New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

whats the actual waiting time after receiving the acknowledgment letter from Queensland ? Is it still 2 months or is it even longer now..for those who received their letters dated Feb and March..have you received your assessment results ?

Actually, since it's a 456 visa. You really need a return ticket if I'm not mistaken. This is because basically a 456 visa would require you to go home before the visa is expired. If ever you apply for a 457 visa while in Australia and while your 456 is still valid, then you can cancel your return ticket and you can refund all, if not, some of it. Usually they deduct some fee for the cancellation.

agree... are you getting the $408 USD MLA-MEL roundtrip? please note that the promo fares are usually cheaper because it is non-transferrable and non-refundable. and if you do not take the flight you have to cancel 24 hrs before or else you forfeit the value of your ticket. The fully refundable ticket can be moved anytime without change fees or cancellations fees but they usually cost more.

Can anyone help me on how to apply for the BRIDGE PROGRAM in AUSTRALIA?I've been having some difficulty on trying to find some infos. on the things I must do first.......and on things that must be done.....

hi crimsonguy :) i suggest that you try to decide first where in australia you intend to take your bridging program. once you have decided where to go, send your application to the Nursing Board and wait for their assessment letter that states whether you are eligible to take the bridging program... you need this assessment letter in applying for the bridging program. try to google the nursing board you want to apply to for other details.. hope this helps :)

I know one who is now in Perth doing the BP. He's a second courser.

For those who applied in western australia, where did you get your Senior First Aid Training? This is a requirement of HPH and DOH. i plan to get it in red cross (Davao) however the next training would be june since the may 18 training is already closed. i have to get that training as soon as possible. thank you for your help.
