Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
hi crimsonguy :) i suggest that you try to decide first where in australia you intend to take your bridging program. once you have decided where to go, send your application to the Nursing Board and wait for their assessment letter that states whether you are eligible to take the bridging program... you need this assessment letter in applying for the bridging program. try to google the nursing board you want to apply to for other details.. hope this helps :)
Hello, sofia*26.....Ive decided to work in the state of Victoria and therefore downloaded their application form for the overseas trained nurse like me. Ive, read from their application form that I should be paying the application evaluation with $145 AUD made payable to the Nurses Board of Victoria, and together with the payment, I will be sending also the requirements listed in the application form. After they (the Nurses Board of Victoria) have seen and evaluated my credentials....lets assume that the board sent me their assessment letter and made me eligible to take the bridge program, what is the next step that I should be doing after receiving such letter? Should I process a visa after receiving the letter?thnk you.....hope to hear from you soon.....

The next step would be to look for a Bridging Program Provider in Victoria. You will need to apply to the providers and enroll. After, successfully enrolling in the program, you will then proceed with the visa application.
hi gail!.. so sorry for the late post. Yes i applied at Hollywood Private Hospital already. I'm keeping my fingers crossed to be included in the September run as February 2010 seems to be too long for me to wait forhow about you? Good luck in our applications!
no prob..:) i have not applied yet. i am still waiting for the result of my ielts. im planning to join the september run but i don't think i can make it. do you already have a place to stay during the bridging program? good luck with your application as well.. :)
I'm not 100% sure about this, but from what I've gathered, for new graduates with Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree; without work experience, it will be Level 1 Grade 2..for those who finished with Diploma only in Nursing, newly grad with no experience it would be Level 1 Grade 1.
Ah so i see..
What level will you be starting as branyan? Hows the paper work coming along..
Can anyone help me on how to apply for the BRIDGE PROGRAM in AUSTRALIA?I've been having some difficulty on trying to find some infos. on the things I must do first.......and on things that must be done.....
hello, the first thing you should do is to read the posts in previous pages. a lot of informations you can read in there. second, you have to choose first which state are you going to seek a registration as each state have different requirements..:)

hi gail nope i don't have any place to stay yet during the bridging program as i am still waiting for HPH's response to my application. I was told that you can have a shared accomodation to lessen the expenses, if not, i already googled possible flats/apartments to rent in Perth and AU$100 -150 isn't all that bad to stay at.. Good luck in your ielts result. Be optimistic my dear.. HPH is accepting application for the bridging program till july 17 so there's still a lot of time for you to process your application By the way, are you processing your application on your own?.. Good luck :paw:

hi sofia, yep im crossing my fingers that i'll pass the ielts and hope i can join the september run. im also waiting for the certificate from redcross bec i finished the training just last week here in davao. by the way, how long did you wait before you got the assessment letter from nmbwa? yep im processing my application on my own. i just read the entire thread and followed the steps.. this thread has been very helpful, i mean everyone who has shared information in this thread has been helpful including you. so thanks to everyone.. :)
it took me almost a month because upon receiving my application form along with the required credentials, i was told by the client officer of NMBWA that i still needed to request the breakdown of my theoretical and clinical hours from my school.. My application was received around last week of March then i received the assessment letter just last april 29... :)
hi marcelinho :)... i've known some people who were given an assessment letter by NMBWA to take the bridging course even with zero experience. However, it is the course providers who require applicants to have work experience. Like in Hollywood Private Hospital, they prefer those who have at least 1 year acute hospital experience and in DOH, a minimum of 2 years.. :)
