Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
You don't need to go to ANMC first. To convince your aunt, let them call NBV and they will say the same thing. :)See the thing is, You don't need ANMC yet. You'll need ANMC for skilled migration which you won't be applying for now. What you need to finish first is your registration ( you'll need this for positive assessment).
What I would suggest is that you call both ANMC and NBV just to clear things.
Visa will depend on how long your course will be. Usually for a BP program for 3 months or less.. they apply for a 456 (Short Stay visa) or a Tourist Visa. When they pass the BP & have an employer sponsoring them, they can then apply for a 457 visa (Long stay).
hey thanks a lot
this cleared up things for me
wish you the best of luck aelith
hi miss aelith,i wonder if you r in Aus now. i been reading the entire thread but its too long:uhoh3: i hope you dont mind me asking, coz i am a bit interested in trying my luck in Aus too...
Actually, not yet I'm taking a different route tho. However, I do know a lot of people who have already finished the BP and are now working... some are still in the process.
O my, I hope the assessment with QNC is not gonna take forever. We've waiting for like more than 2 months:cry: Perhaps because of the humongous number of nurses applying, that's why it takes a while for the result. Cross fingers..
Sad to say, because of the bulk of nurses applying QNC, the assessment will take more time.
to those who were granted visa 456, i already have my visa 456... do i need to purchase a two-way ticket or can i just get the one way for melbourne? i called australian embassy they told me doesnt matter as long as my visa is still valid, when i went to PAL to purchase a ticket one way they told me it must be round trip.. hope somebody can help me..

hey dudzy, when are you leaving? make sure you're not too busy when you get there coz you need to update me with ETEA :) lol.... good luck!
btw, why don't you get a fully refundable ticket if they really want roundtrip...did you tell PAL that the embassy told you the ticket doesn't matter?
or why not purchase the ticket online?

Actually, since it's a 456 visa. You really need a return ticket if I'm not mistaken. This is because basically a 456 visa would require you to go home before the visa is expired. If ever you apply for a 457 visa while in Australia and while your 456 is still valid, then you can cancel your return ticket and you can refund all, if not, some of it. Usually they deduct some fee for the cancellation.
