Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hi. Im already here in Australia under a student visa. . My husband is a BSN grad in the philippines last March 2008. Unfortunately he wasnt able to take the local board exam since he had to accompany me here. Now he wants to continue his career in nursing. He doesnt want to come home just to take the local board instead he will study for NCLEX and take the exam here as well.
My question is, if he passed the exam and if he will be assessed by queensland nursing council , will that be enough to be allowed to take CAS?
I would really appreciate it if I can get a straight and credible answer. Thank you.

I think you will find they want him to have a local license which would mean the NLE as that is where he trained
hi Aelith,thanks...i hope they will accept my apllication and they will let me do the CAS without having me an experience...
do you know somebody who did/ or will be doing the CAS without having a work experience? i am worried that they might send my application to ANMC?
can you enlighten me please...thanks.
PS: Aelith, all of my PRC docs are already settled...no worries about that. my only worry is the QNC/CAS.
Hello ryan :)
Sorry for the late reply.. Branyan is right.. up till now, QNC is still accepting applicants who are inexperienced. The success of your application will depend mostly on your educational background. About ANMC, I am not sure if they will do that because ANMC is for migration purposes and not for registration.
hi aelith!Im really new here and this is my first time to join this forum. I have not finished reading all the post but i dont have to ask u because u answered all the questions

I agree with Silverdragon. The NLE would have more bearing compared to the NCLEX. The problem is there is still retrogression in the US and one cannot have the license yet unless you can provide them the SSN. And you can only have that number if you are at least an immigrant if I remember it correctly. Another problem is, if he can take the NCLEX without the local license.
He applied at California. We just included a letter stating why he wasnt able to take the NLE. He has an SSN because he was able to acquire one when he was in the states and was petitioned by his father whos already an immigrant then. Unfortunately, the petition was denied because he already turned 22 when the decision came out and he was just asked to go home.
Its just easier for him to study and take the NCLEX here rather than going home in philippines to take NLE. Is there a way to ask the queensland nursing board without having to send them the requirements first?
By the way aelith, have you received a letter of offer from University of Sydney? I've already emailed them and I havent received any reply from them. Its more comfortable to him if just study here instead of taking the exam and not being sure if he would pass. hehe.

I am not really too sure about this but, as far as I know, the license from the US will have no bearing unless you were educated there or you were able to practise there for a couple of years (I may be mistaken here, so please correct me if I'm wrong).
As for the confirmation from Queensland, you can try to email them or call their hot line number. I think you would be able to get some answers for this.
As for Usyd, I haven't received any response yet because they said they are trying to finish the 2009 applications first. If you need information regarding Usyd's program, I can forward you the correspondence I have with their MN coordinator :) Just PM me your email add and I'll forward it to you.

Even if you have an NCLEX or you're an RN in the States but you were not educated there, it will have no bearing on your QNC application. I'm also an NCLEX passer, I have a license from the State of Vermont, when I applied to QNC I sent also a copy of my US license but it was returned to me labelled "not needed". They will only consider you're US license if you took your nursing program in the States.

I think everybody is correct that one should have to provide information regarding initial registration in the country where one had his/her education. But the QNC is very particular that one should have to provide information where one is currently or have held registration/license. This ensures transparency with the registration authority. You have to declare everything that might have a bearing on your registration. I myself holds a NY license and I have declared that by providing the council my certifcate of registration including my license to practice certified by a Notary Public. They did not return the certified documents and did not obliged me to verify my NY license.
Remember that we are signing a declaration. You are held accountable for whatever you're not declaring simply because this is lying under oath or perjury.
In the Philippines, one can actually prepare and take the board exam in 3 months time. IF you are converting BSN to BN in Australia, it would take a year and one would still need the NLE because the council must approve your credentials before enrollment. I am not actually sure about studying the complete BN in 3 years time. But that will cost a lot and would not be so practical. Just my .
