Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hi everyone, I just passed all four components of the CAS Challenge test and I did it without any agency. You can do it, just be persistent and pray a lot.
wow congratulations! how did you review for the test, how long and what are the materials used? your answer will assist us.:redpinkhe happy valentine's day!!!:redbeathe
Thanks! By Test B you mean the one day clinical exam..I think, you can do the 1 month placement if you fail the one day clinical exam. But I'm not really sure if you can do the placement immediately or right after your clinical exam, because there are different set of requirements for the 1 month placement that you need to complete and I think it takes time for CAS to arrange the placement as it is dependent on the availability of the facility that will be providing the placement. So there's the chance that you might have to comeback to your country then once placement is arranged, go back again to Aus which is quite expensive I think..
I wonder if ......
Its acceptable to not take TEST B one day exam if you are not confident with your skills...
and probably ask them to directly let you take the module without having to take the one day clinicals...
this can save you lot of money right?
tnx :)

If you'll analyze the application and assessment process for CAS see http://www.qnc.qld.gov.au/upload/pdfs/publications/Competence_Assessment_Service.pdf These are the possible scenarios if you take the Challenge Test.
1. if you're successful with Part A (written exam) then you go to Part B or the 1 day clinical, if you're successful with Part B or 1 day clinical exam - you'll be eligible for registration
2. If you fail Part A, you can not proceed to Part B but you will be directed to the appropriate educational modules as indicated by your Part A results. After you've finished the educ. modules you will now have to do Part B, if you're successful then you get registered but if you fail Part B then you have to go through the clinical practice module or the 1 month clinical placement.
While if you opt to go through the Education Program, you don't have to do exam, you go straight to the 4 educational modules - 3 theoretical and 1 clinical. the clinical module is the 1 month clinical placement to be done in Aus.
Thank you for your greetings. I don't know how to post a link but the new thread specific to CAS is in the International Nursing forum titled: Competency Assessment Service - Queensland, Australia.
It is in these forums that I first entertained the idea of aiming for Australia since the retrogression in the US is taking a very long time. I feel that it is time for me to share some information also.

Even if you passed the clinical part of the challenge test, you have the option of enrolling for the module (1 month clinical) if you are not confident with your skills. This will be discussed in your application forms after you receive your examination results.
