New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

yes...that would be a great move...in my case, i informed the ielts weeks prior to taking the exam, so that everything will be organized by them, and they require me provide an empty mail and give it to them together with the request form that should be filled up, for them to send a copy of the result and be forwarded to QNC. (i dont know if they will require you the same thing).

Hi rlssem!

Gosh its good that you made your arrangement prior to taking the test. clever.. I just called up the IELTS authorized office here in our province, the mailing fee plus the IELTS charge will probably cost me P 1400.. Ouch!

just to confirm, you gave IELTS the same address you used when you submitted your application right?! thanks!=)

can the QNC process application without EILTS?

congrats branyan... i have a question, aren't u allowed to take the clinical placement if one failed in test B?

Thanks! By Test B you mean the one day clinical exam..I think, you can do the 1 month placement if you fail the one day clinical exam. But I'm not really sure if you can do the placement immediately or right after your clinical exam, because there are different set of requirements for the 1 month placement that you need to complete and I think it takes time for CAS to arrange the placement as it is dependent on the availability of the facility that will be providing the placement. So there's the chance that you might have to comeback to your country then once placement is arranged, go back again to Aus which is quite expensive I think..

can the QNC process application without EILTS?

Yes. But QNC won't let you do CAS without first satisfying the IELTS requirement.

yes...they wont entertain late arrangements, or they wont accept arrangements after the exam. they asked me/us upon lodging the application if we do want a spare copy of the result to be sent in any organization/institution (actually a maximum of 5 spare copies is alright for them, with no extra cost at all).in my case i didnt pay anything, they just let me provide an empty envelope plus the request form that was provided by them.

P1400 is a big money. ( i think its really business nowadays...:D)...

and yes, same address, the GPO Box one...

good luck for your ielts.

hi everyone...i've red about the thread and gain some new ideas...thank u...!!!

No, they will not do anything without the English results as these are a strict requirement by the Aussie government before they will do anything with a visa of any type.

They also require the English results for licensure there as well, so best is to get that done and then send in your application.

Best of luck to you.

hi branyan, where did you take the challenge test here in the phil? and how did you review? what are the materials that you used? ive been reading this forum from the start and planning to apply in victoria but then i read your posts and i was motivated to switch state to queensland which is infact cheaper than any other state in aus. :D

This is incorrect. QNC will proceed in the assessment of your educational credentials and will let you know if you you need to satisfy the English requirement. Actually, the council ecourages applicants not to proceed with IELTS without a go signal from them because they need to assess the comparability of your education with an Australian University. But in most cases, Philippine education is comparable. But if you have a passing IELTS scores then it is best to forward it to them to hasten the process. With your question, they will certainly look into your credentials. But without a passing English proficiency score, they will not let you proceed to CAS.

Hi everyone, I just passed all four components of the CAS Challenge test and I did it without any agency. You can do it, just be persistent and pray a lot.

Hi guys! Ive been following this thread for more than a month now and im actually planning to take the Challenge test by the end of this month. Can the people who have taken the exam msg me? i want to start a thread specifically for the challenge test because in my opinion it the best way to go simply coz its cheaper. Im a lecturer for St.louis review center and id like the thread to focus on how to exactly take the examination, strategies and stuff like that but i need the ideas of those who took the test already. I got the 3 books that are essential for the test, all i need is what the test looks like. Please do help me so i can help all those in the future who may want to take the challenge. Thanks you all! more power.

For those who want to talk specifically about the CAS for queensland, I have initiated a new thread for the discussion.
