You might want to consider putting in your notice and working it out. I say that so you have a good reference. You can always apply at home health agencies first, land something and then resign.

Remember home health is nice but when I worked home health I put over 30,000 miles per year on my car. Driving in bad weather can be scarey too.

I can relate. I was carrying a less academic load than you and struggled with the same feelings. It seems your stress has not affected your reasoning yet and you know what you have to do. I too made school the priority and quit my two day aweek CNA job. Life and school were much better after that. Some people are able to do more than others and that's a fact. Find your limits and don't go over them. School is a long haul.

You are carrying a tremendous load and I applaud you! (Chem and A&P together??? horrors!) Good luck in what you do. Renerian is right of course, it's always a good idea not to burn bridges. This is not a flame, but you do seem to have a history dumping a job when overwhelmed. Prospective employers will wonder if you will be like that as an employee of theirs. (But of course, lets face it in nursing sometimes it's the license you carry, not the work history you have).

Good luck and hang in there. Sounds like you do have your priorities right.

I think home health care is an excellent option! I don't know how it is in your city, but here in NY home health CNAs are in HIGH demand. Apply at some different agencies and try out some of the patients. A lot of times you get plenty of free time to study or even just relax while you're at the patient's home. I had a great time as a home health nurse. I had a few wonderful patients and even one whose husband would come home from work and cook us all a delicious dinner while I watched Oprah with his wife! :) Whatever you do, just remember, this is a temporary situation. You WILL be done with school one day even though I know it doesn't feel like it while you're doing it!! Good luck to you!

I think you are perfectly normal and you will be OK, you are overwhelmed and you haven't even got a minute for yourself. It is normal to feel this way while in school, it sure isn't easy. Some ppl can juggle alot more than others, some can't, that's fine, we are all unique individuals.

If, financially you'll be ok if you don't work while in school, by all means, do it. Nursing school is intense and you do need time for yourself or you will slowly burn out, for sure.

You said school is your priority. I read your posts and know how much you wanted this, so that's good to hear.

If you do decide to resign from your w/e position, you will only have 2 more weeks (assuming it's 2 wks and not 3 wks required for giving notice of termination) until you have some time for you :) hope this helps

You have to take care of yourself first. Your body is letting you know that's its too much. Give it some thought, and than do what your heart tells you too. A change in job field may be just what you need.

Update!!!! I am doing well, hows everyone else?

I did leave my job but on very good terms. The DON was very understanding! I am now looking accepting a home care position because i can make my own hours, but before i make the decision i really need to hear the pros and cons about it. i have been out of work for about 3 weekends and i enjoyed the break but i have bills of course. My time off has helped me concentrate more on school and myself but i think i am now ready to go back into the feild. Please anyone who had knowldege of the feild and experince please tell me what to expect. I am excited to try something new but i am a little apprehensive

miss jkm-

Thanks for updating us; I was hoping you were doing all right. You sound so much more together, like you have found the way to work out what you need to succeed and how to make it all work for yourself. Good luck!

This time, if you decide to leave your job, put in a formal resignation and stick to it. You already walked out of one job; calling off and then not going back isn't much better.

Don't ruin your reputation before you even get started.
