  1. I am moving to Ft. Myers area the end of the week and am an RN. I have always loved geristrics. May I ask where you work? I have always enjoyed the one on one with the residaents and wouldn't care for adm. I don't believe you lose all skills. You become very good at assesment of pt. You get to know these pts, and you will know if something is not right. Give yourself more credit. Elderly pts have so much to share and are so appreciative, keep up the good work. Don't listen to everyone else and do what you like best. Thay need you. K.Z.

  3. I am moving to Ft. Myers and am interested in geriatrics, but will take hospital nursing . Anyone have info on good places to work? I sure would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
  4. Great response!!!!
  5. I use Armege, which also is expensive but it really helps with my headaches. Co pay helps.
  6. I can understand those that are upset by some of the posts. The attempt of suicide is something that should be taken seriously. It doesn't matter if it is because of a boyfriend or whatever, it is still a cry for help. It appears that many nurses feel this is attention seeking behavior, and your right. Usually these are young people who haven't matured enough to cope with problems in their lives. The statement " NARCAN IS FUN " even bothers me. Hopefully your children or grandchildren will never be in a situation such as this, for I would worry about the sincereity of the care they receive.
  7. I seen the play WIT, and just want to say ...if it ever comes to your town don't miss it. It was fantastic.
  8. This is totally disgusting. I hope they lock him up for good.
  9. I think nursing is just one of those professions where your always wondering "did I do the right thing." Its true that the learning is never ending, and that is one of the reasons I enjoy it. I also ask for other's opinions if I'm not sure. I just do the best I can, what more can I do? Wish you the best, and pat yourself on the back for caring the way you do.
  10. I own a pair of closed back clogs, and I love them too.
  11. I tried nights and felt like ----. Always liked the PM shift 3-11, but now I am a day shift. Hate getting up so early...but I feel it is much easier on my body and mind than nocs was.
  12. I have always been interested in anything medical. I feel you should have a passion for what you are doing. No, I don't feel you have to be super smart. You do need to work hard in school. I put my studies first and everything else second. You have to really want it. PS. Your cat looks just like mine!

I work 5 days a week, and get paid every 2 weeks. Now, when i work over 40 hrs. in a week, shouuldn't i receive overtime for that week? My co. just adds everything together for the 2 weeks. What so you think about this? is this common?
