NCLEX RN 14 times

Published

I'm going to take my NCLEX RN for the 14th time in March. In using UWORLD and Picmonic. My problem is knowledge deficit, memory deficit and anxiety. If I stop taking the Exam, I'm going to forget everything which is worse. I know people who Failed and give up and do not want to be one of those people. Any ideas please let me know and help me.

If content is an issue and you have already failed so many times, either you need to evaluate whether you have what it takes or you need to think about going back to nursing school.

With all due respect,

Remember what? In your opening post, you admitted that your problem (first thing identified) was knowledge deficit. How can you remember what you have no knowledge of?

Do you think your nursing education was sufficient? Was the program accredited or even legit? In recent years, my state has cracked down on these fly-by-night nursing programs that issue pathetic education and worthless degrees.

Fourteen attempts is a serious matter, and a lot of time and money invested to still not be able to demonstrate minimum, entry-level competency.

This reminds me of my attempt to learn Spanish. I walked in, sat down, and the professor began to speak....in Spanish. After 15 minutes, if it was that long, I got up and walked out because I didn't hear anything even remotely sounding like a translation that would help me make certain connections.

I don't it's the Nursing School. It's me who cannot retain a lot of information due to the rough job I have with Juvenile Justice.

Everyone asked me how did I make it to Nursing School while I was working with delinquents for the Juvenile Justice. Working with delinquent youth is not fun.

im looking to better myself. I'm tired of working with delinquent youth and this is my 16 year. My brain is easily forgotten many things.

Hi Sianee, I just read your post and I truly commend you for sharing this story because it shows how much endurance you have. However, it can be a challenge to comment on this situation from my insight without knowing the details. I appreciate you coming for help and highly suggest you tackle this question maybe before spending any more money :Have you discovered the underlying reason for your test taking anxiety and memory deficit? If so, what are the key barriers that allow you not move forward? Try your best to look at this as an opportunity to tackle this problem in different angles.

xx

Sorry to hear this. I just went for mine in Tuesday 2/7/17 and I failed again. I know what you're feeling.

Although I have no experience working with juveniles, I must say that one has nothing to do with the other. But if your defense is that of working a full time job while going to school full time, then maybe that would have been understandable. Now, my dear, you don't even have that as an excuse because school is over, and you obviously made it through. Unless you bring those juveniles home with you, stop blaming them.

If you're trying to study while at work, stop doing that. Reading with continuous interruptions only accomplishes some degree of quantitative requirements, while absolutely zero qualitative goals are met (in other words, you read just for the sake of reading, and didn't remember or retain squat).

If you've been with the juvenile system for 16 years, if you have some time accrued vacation-wise, take some time off to focus on nothing but the nclex. My very real thoughts are why stay on a job that you feel has your mind so messed up that you can't focus on or accomplish anything else that you really want to do. Stress is a killer. But I do understand that so is the added stress of not being able to meet financial obligations.

How many years have you been out of nursing school? I'm sure you're long overdue for a review course, or a repeat of nursing school as Rose Queen suggested. If you do plan to retake the nclex for a 15th and hopefully final attempt , I suggest you physically distance yourself from all that you view as obstacles for at least one month leading up to your exam, since you don't seem to be able to mentally form the separation.

I graduated October 2014.

I believe that you need to evcaluate your situation. Are you in a position where you can take a leave from work & attend a review course & really buckle down on studying. I admire your determination for wanting to pass but it obvious that you need to remove or temporarily rearrange some things in your life so that you can be successful.

Some people says I should go to work as an nursing assustant
