  1. I know we shouldn’t get attached but I think part of the reason her death hit me hard was because was during the pandemic we grew really close. She was the only one of the few that survived of my long timers. The pandemic really had an affect on her she’d always vent to me on how she had no one and she would tell me I was the only nurse that took the time to listen. It was really hard after the outbreak the residents were isolated in the rooms all the time couldn’t see no one at that time we were really all they had. Dying is part of life, and we just have to accept it, and move on. Anyways thank you all for the advice I feel so much better now. ?
  2. Awe this literally brought tears to my eyes!! ? But thank you!! I know she’s in a better place now!!
  3. Don’t get me wrong I love my job and residents. You’d think after 4years in long term I’d get used to death. It’s just that I don’t want to get too attached anymore because they eventually end up passing. It’s so hard it’s like losing a very close friend or family member there will never be anyone like her.. Long term is depressing sometimes. Her death was so sudden. She was in good condition. The upside is at least I got to spend time with her a few hours before I found out she passed.
  4. Has anyone been in a situation where they get attached to a resident? I took care of this resident for 3 years I went above and beyond, I’d get her her favorite books, and bring in her favorite snacks, she’d always come to me whenever she needed anything. She is very artsy she loved making crafts, drawings and when she was done she’d give them to me for everything that I do. When I’m not there she’d always ask about me. Whenever I’d walk in to work she’d be sitting right by my med cart ready to talk to me about her day. We were very close. and today I got a text from a coworker that she passed over night. . She was completely fine the day before and she told me she’d see me Friday which would’ve been today. I am heart broken I’ve known her for so long it hurts to know that she’s not going to be there. I was in tears when I got the text and just the feeling of me going in I don’t know. I’ve lost residents in the past but this one because I’ve known her for so long it just hits different ? I don’t know if I can continue with long term anymore it’s just too much it’s sad.
  5. Hello all im here to vent. I’m a lpn. I’ve been an lpn for 4 years now. I’m in my first semester of RN school and all I can say is I wish I never applied. I started off strong passed 3 out of the 7 exams so far the 4th exam I’m still waiting on the grade but I don’t think I did too well. Also I failed my first attempt on my evaluation Bc of my nerves so I’m scheduled to retake that next week. I cried. Now I have no motivation anymore. Some of the instructors are not so nice and make me feel like I’m dumb. This really affects my mental health like I’ve never felt so depressed in my life. When I was in lpn I never felt like this. So now I’m considering withdrawing to save myself from all the stress and anxiety from this program. My sleep pattern is off, my diet is poor, I’ve. been forgetful of things, I’m just really unhappy in life. Has anyone ever felt like this?
  6. Hi so I have to come up with a diagnoses and some interventions with time frames on a pt I had with dementia. She is nonverbal so The diagnoses I did on her was impaired verbal communication rt disease process amb difficulty expressing thoughts verbally Al I need is a time frame so what should I put if my intervention is to assess for presence of expressive dysphasia and receptive dysphasia? Should I say during shift, upon interaction?

  8. thank you so much for the great advice. I'll update you guys next week.
  9. Omg this is how I feel. I test on April 10th and I'm not too confident bc I always feel like I'm forgetting. This will be my third attempt. I'm so tired of doing questions. It's like the more I do it just gives me more anxiety. I hope we pass.
  10. thanks!! I just needed to vent. Your advice meant alot and I'm sure you'll do well.
  11. I feel like crap. Failed nclex twice and I'm going for my last attempt april 10th. I just recently had a job interview they approved me but I can't start until I get my license. I really want this job but I'm worried I'll fail again. Every time I look at the material I fall asleep. I'm so tired of it. I'm slacking. The first two attempts I tried really hard but now I've been procrastinating. I just want this test to be over it's holding me back. Everyone was like "oh you got this" friends, famiiy even my instructor. Too bad I failed. I let everybody down. I was so happy when I graduated from nursing school. I was relieved they made it sound like nclex was easy. Yes my school has a high passing rate. Yet I'm probably the only one that failed, not once but twice. I will never be free. I'm depressed.
  12. Failing the nclex sucks. It's a crappy feeling. I'm going on my third try I was gonna quit the second time but I said to myself maybe 3rd times the charm. I feel a bit more confident this time around maybe my mind is playing tricks on me. I just can't quit I enjoy caring for people. I've always wanted to be a nurse since grade school. I cannot let this stupid test defeat me. I test March 30th it'll be my last.
  13. I'm not from Cali I'm from NY. Here we get ours in 2 days. I'm not really sure how it works in Cali but if you've been getting the good pop up all day then most likely you passed. Like the other poster said maybe there was a delay bc of the holiday or you might have to still wait a few wks. Again good luck! And please update us!
  14. I believe you passed because when i took mine they declined my payment and I failed. I used a valid card with no money on it and they attempted to charge me telling me to contact my bank. If you got the Our records indicate... then you passed. You're probably not seeing your name bc your state doesn't participate in quick results. You probably have to wait so just relax! Good luck!!
  15. This thread is still going? I feel like you don't read the rationales as you practice. I know when I read I retain the info better even tho I failed twice and I'm already looking to change careers. Going for my third attempt which I haven't scheduled yet. I'm so sick of nclex. but I agree with everyone else 14 times I would change careers.
