Took NCLEX today with 75 questions! What does that mean? I think I flunked.

Nursing Students NCLEX

I just took the NCLEX today in CA and I was in there for about

1 3/4 hours and it shut off at 75 questions. I got a few pick all that apple, a few calculations, some mass casualty, but very few Pharm questions. I studied my butt off since Christmas for this test and did Kaplan. Doing the Kaplan Question Trainer questions at my own computer really simulated how the NCLEX works (font was the same too!). Anyway, Kapln helps a lot, so take it if you can (some hospitals where I live will now pay for Kaplan for you and Kaplan gives you a money back guarantee if you fail the test). I did Lippincott and Saunders questions and they helped. I did ATI in my RN program and it told me both times that I have a 98-99% chance of passing. I scored above 65% on all of the Kaplan practice tests and passed the Readiness exam at the Kaplan center when I took it a few weeks ago. But, when I was in there, it kinda hit me that THIS IS IT, THIS IS THE DAY YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! But, it was still a shock to be actually sitting for boards today.

I also had lots of trouble sleeping last night, which was sucky, since I got a nice, quiet hotel room so I could sleep in and rest. Haa! That didn't happen, I was so nervous and kept waking up with my stomach in knots (even after taking 2 Tylenol PM's to sleep easy). Anyway, I walked out of there smiling and happy it was over, but now I'm really doubting myself. I looked up the answers to the questions I remembered. My friends that took it in 75 questions all passed, but I think I'll be in the small percentage that failed at 75. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Specializes in psych.

For those that passed, do you mind sharing how long you studied prior to taking the test. I jsut graduated and have scheduled to take the test on the 26th this month. I have been using Medspub, Kaplan, and Hesi. I know the areas to work on, but just wondering if you felt after taking the test if you would have studied longer, if it would have helped any?

Thanks

Every person I know who shut off at 75 questions passed. I took only about an hour to do 75 questions and I passed. Hang in there and keep checking the BRN website every day for your name, mine showed up in three days!

I used the Lippincott CD-Rom tests. I took 100 questions a day. I would read the rationales if I got the question wrong, or right if it was a guess. I did that every day and passed the first time with about 110 questions.

I just found out today that I passed the nclex with 75 questions. What a wonderful day, just in time for nurses week. Not to mention today was my school's graduation ceremony, even though I finished in december. I am so glad it is finally over. I'm going to party my butt off tonight.

I can now write that after my name (it's great.)

Congratulations! Enjoy your celebrations.

Congratulations, Angie! Wow, what great timing, too!

I hope to be in your shoes one day. :) Go party, now! You deserve it!

I took the NCLEX on 5/7/05 and I am on pins and needles. I failed the test 3/27 after taking 265 questions. My school makes everyone take . A friend recommended the Hurst Review and I loved it and learned a whole lot. I learned more from Marlene than I did in most of my nursing classes. She makes sure you understand WHY?

She tells you if you follow her method you will probably only answer 75 questions. My computer cut off at 75. I am feeling very confident that I passed, but in the back of my mind I know there is a possibility that I could have failed.

The questions were so different from what I had on the first test.

I did not tell anyone I was taking the test in March because I was afraid that I would fail and didn't want anyone to know. This time I had a lot of support from friends and family and lots of prayer!!!

I should be able to download my results Monday or Tuesday.

I too only had 75 questions. When the computer shut off, my first thought was "oh crap." All the way home, I went back through books and looked up questions/answers.

I figured that it would be difficult to fail at 75 questions, even though I know that the powers that be say you can fail just as easy at 75 as 265. But, I figure that even if you bomb those first 75 questions, you still have 190 more, right? You could technically get those first 75 wrong but then come back and whiz through the next 100 and be fine. I think..I hope.

The waiting game is the part that is the worst for me. I graduated just 10 days before I took the NCLEX because I knew I would be a basket case if I waited any longer.

Good luck to everyone else who is waiting!

I was soooo happy beyond belief to see my name on the BRN site with a license number next to it! It was very early in the morning on Saturday while I was at work, so I felt pretty tired and it seemed like a blur. I had to show other people so I could believe what I ws seeing. But, praise the lord I passed :) Now, I can truly relax and enjoy having graduated college! :nurse: :smiley_aa

Congrats! You should be sooooo proud of yourself? Any hints? I have to take mine this summer.
