NCLEX in 20 days!!! (January 15, 2013)

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I am sooo nervous!... I have done HURST Review and am now doing Kaplan review: so far my diagnostic score was a 61.11% QT1: 60% and QT2: 64% I am still working through reading the Course Book and reviewing the content lesson...

I have been doing 100-150 questions a day whether its on Kaplan or flash card questions. I am afraid that a lot the questions I am doing are too easy and will be easier than what will be on the actually NCLEX...

I feel so discouraged at times because I have a lot depending on me passing the NCLEX, a new job lined up, my parents, boyfriend, etc. :nailbiting:

Is there anything else I can do different? Are my scores okay? Any advice will help!!

Thanks :shy:

I take mine the 15th as well, incredibly nervous! Scoring a 62 on my qbank and averaging low to mid 60s on my trainers. Did I mention I'm incredibly nervous!
We must be in the same boat I'm extremely nervous to a point where I'm thinking of rescheduling!!!! How have you been studying?

I feel pretty good about it, but I do get nervous about the SATA...I wish Kaplan gave more than just a few scattered here and there and that alternative question quiz (which i didnt do well on...) For the diseases in the Kaplan book...I feel like I could rattle off the main s/s but am sure I would be leaving some out, could probably recognize them in a test question tho? (I HOPE!:nailbiting:) I think while studying it would be much harder to memorize just s/s that are associated with a disease...the way I try to study it besides learning through question rationales, is to understand what is going on in the body in relation to the disease process. That way, it makes more sense to me and I will retain it better. I feel like i still sometimes get things mixed up but Im just trying my best. That is all I can really do at this point in the game...my nclex is in 16 hours, yikesssssssss!

Oh and by the way, dont be discouraged with your score on qtrainer 5, that was my lowest of all of the qtrainers but then my 6 and 7 scores improved! And all I had time to do between taking them was review rationales. Keep it up, you've got this!!

Just took QT6: 74.5!! best score yet on the Qtrainers if the REAL NCLEX is like this then I am that more relieved about taking it!!!....Best wishes to you tomorrow, Ill pray for you tonight! =)

THATS AWESOME!! Great news for you! Got that boost you needed! I am gonna watch The Office and get a good nights sleep (at least try to!) My test is at 8am so I will let you know how it goes tomorrow! THANK YOU FOR THE PRAYERS!!!! Oh I hope I pass!:x3:

I really think that you are going to blow the test out the water with those scores of yours!!!! We have only about 6 days left till the NCLEX and I am scared out of my mind because I'm still so weak in content and those meds that you have to know are so hard for me to remember thinking about rescheduling my test day but idk?!? Took QT5 made a 53% so my scores are decreasing! :( idk what to do

Thank you! :) Worry some thing is my Q-Bank score average is 66% with only 300 Qs completed. Question Trainer 6 gave me a boost, I'm glad it did the same for you! :) We can do it!!!

Praying for you Katie!! **hugs and best wishes**

Just got home from my NCLEX...2 hours and 75 questions and just tried to register with pearson and am getting the "good pop up":nailbiting: I know everyone says it works but I guess its just one of those things when you experience it, it is hard to believe because I am in complete shock! I just dont want to get too excited prematurely :woot:

YAAAYYYYY!!!!! CONGRATS! you passed!!!! PROUD!!! :nurse::x3: KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!!!....

how was the experience did you get tons of SATA? anything to compare to the KAPLAN or worse!!! ahhh lol

I see you took your time as well which is great!!!

OMG I HOPE I DID!!!! I honestly cried the entire 2 hour car ride home because I felt like "what just happened in there"...lots of random questions that any amount of studying couldn't help me with. I guess that is why its best to just take your test and not delay it! As far as my experience, I was calm driving there but once they took my picture and finger scan and all that I got a knot in my stomach and thought I was gonna puke! I sat down and prayed before even touching my computer which really really helped me. I know not everyone is religious, but praying really calms me :-) I took a deep breath and began. I honestly am glad I did Kaplan because it really did feel like I was just taking another Q Bank...even the timer and question count is set up on the same side. By question 15 I got my first SATA and just worked through it using the true/false strategy and once I checked an answer I moved on. By question 60 I tried to focus EXTRA hard and my question 75 was a SATA. I stared at the question for a couple of minutes before checking off my answers and when I hit NEXT I squeezed my eyes shut!!!! When I opened them there was a message that I had completed the exam and it was time to take the survery. My hands started to shake, as much as I would have loved to finish and pass at 75 I worried that maybe 75 wasnt enough, maybe the computer had decided I had failed and that was it, my shot was over. This was why my car ride home was so depressing. I waiting a good hour or so to even try logging in to pearson. When I did and got the good pop up I literally scared my dog b/c of my reaction lol. So now just to wait and see for the final results!!!!

Sorry for the ramble but I know this past week as I've been studying I have been really interested in hearing lots of nurses nclex experience, so that is why I am sharing mine :geek:

As far as SATA, I was soo worried about these but honestly DO NOT worry about them!!! They are considered "higher level questions" on the nclex but they are not bad at all. I even thought that most of my SATA were easier than lots of the other multiple choice questions. Mine were all on very broad nursing topics that I was comfortable with even before studying. (And just so ya know...I got a 28% on the Kaplan alternative question quiz:wacky:) Kaplan questions are muchhhh harder. In total I would say I probably had about 8-9 SATA (seems much less than other people who have passed in 75q), 2 picture questions, 2 EKG, 1 math, lots of priority/delegation questions and about 5 infection control (memorize the mneumonic and you'll do great on these;)) And that was my NCLEX experience!! Now I am gonna go crazy for the next 48 hours waiting for results!

You make me PROUD and wanna follow your footsteps! lol Idk maybe I just have low confidence at this point i feel like I know things but just scared to death of it still!! lol you give me hope though reading your experience and thank you for sharing!!!...Im ready to get it over with now but then again :nailbiting:

Congrats Katielady!!! Thank you sooo much for describing your experience, it makes me feel a lot better you think Kaplan is somewhat harder than the NCLEX! I'm so envious of you, I test Monday eeeeeek

Thank you!!!! If this is true and I did pass, my advice is to BE CONFIDENT! This is coming from someone who is a self doubter sometimes! I said I was not going to study the night before, just review labs and immunization chart but GUESS WHAT...I woke up early and studied all day up until dinner time! And then when my fiance came home and asked how my day was, I started crying and told him I felt like I didnt know anything! It feels so silly now...but then I was in the shower and was thinking about diseases and trying to think of s/s and I couldnt, my brain was officially fried!! This was so depressing for me. It was soooo hard but I put the books and notes down and we went out to dinner, and then when we came home we watched TV together. I didnt think anything was going to calm my nerves at this point but doing something besides beating facts into my head and cramming made me feel at ease. I guess I came to the realization that at this point, I have to just trust my knowledge and not waste my energy on worrying. We all really have learned so much in school, and the truth is we will never know it all no matter how hard we try. The other thing- If I can tackle the NCLEX beast, so can you!! Stay positive and keep telling yourself you can do it!!!:yes:

Oh and about Kaplan...I do think that the Kaplan questions are much harder! If you are doing well with Kaplan that means that you really understand why an answer is right, and with that you can answer any type of question. The Kaplan questions really get you thinking critically which is what you want to be doing when preparing for the nclex.
