NCLEX application in NY for NON-US applicants.

I am a nurse here in the Philippines and it is my first time to apply for a licensure at New York State. I'm processing my CGFNS Credential Verification for New York State (CVS) online, but I haven't completed it yet. I just wanna make sure if I'm doing the right thing. Is there anyone here who can help me or give me information on the step by step process of applying for a license in NY state, from CGFNS up to application at the NY State Education Department (NYSED). I am doing the process on my own and just basing it from what I read from the site and the other blogs here, but I'm still confused. Can someone help me on this? One who had undergone the same process before. Thanks!

I don't know yet, most probably early next year. i'm planning to do a self review and still raising funds to finance my exam. Applying for US RN license is really pocket draining. anyway how's your application?

Yes, we're so lucky enough. I really feel bad for those who can't afford to process all these things. My CVS is still in the process. It's like a mind cracking game for waiting. I'm eagerly sending out applications to a long list of hospitals. :bored: I just want to practice my skills while waiting.

Just study hard, my friends are telling me that it's easier than local boards. LOL

The positivity of this thread is overwhelming. Guys the CGFNS told me that they already have my license validity and my status on their website says "ready for review". That's for waiting 5 months after my application. Thank God. However they haven't receive my school transcripts yet although it was mailed early August I believe.

One of my questions though is that, will the CGFNS release a report without my transcripts? Will that lead me to submitting my transcripts to NYSED directly?

I'm so excited and hopefully we'll be done with our endeavors before the year ends. Stay positive everyone! :)

CGFNS will release everything they have received at the 6 month mark unless everything is received before that. Then takes approx 1-2 months before the BON do anything as they only meet I think once a month to review International nurse applications

Hi fellow nurses. I am inspired by all of you... I am a RN from the Philippines. I just completed the application forms for NYSED and CGFNS and will be sending my application next week. I registered online with CGFNS and also filled up the forms. But I haven't paid the payment online yet so my application is still incomplete. Hopefully, by next week I can finish everything.

But I do have some questions in mind, could you please help?

-did you take review classes or just self-review?

-while waiting, did you already start studying?

-what were your resources? I have a copy of Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX-RN Review 4e and NCLEX3500.

-how long do you usually wait for CGFNS to finish reviewing your credentials?

CVS takes roughly 6 months as a lot depends on how timely CGFNS send the forms and how quickly they get them back. Then takes the BON approx 1-2 months to review file and let you know if you meet requirements and can sit NCLEX

hi fellow nurses:) i'm applying for NY. I have completed the application for CVS, the one found in the handbook and had it notarized. I'm planning to mail it this week. I wanted to pay online using credit card and applied online. But then towards the end of the application online, there's a link for documents to be printed like the authorization for school and licensing authority and the last page that needed to be notarized. I have those documents filled up already, can I use it? Or do I have to print the one online? How did you apply for CVS- online or thru mail? What about the payment?

I applied online thru the CGNFS website and printed the documents on the link. I think the only difference with the docs on the link is that they contain your order number or your CGFNS number.

If I were you, I would print the ones provided by the link and have it notarized again for formality. Notarization is usually free with banks if you have a checking or savings account with them.

Hello kababayans... I am also planning to take my nclex in ny. I just wanna ask some information how,. Do i have to attend child abuse coursework and infection control requirements. And is ielts a requirement too.? I really don't have any idea.

the courses are online courses and usually a license will not be issued without the courses being completed. Check the BON website or even CGFNS website where they will list whether English is required

after applying for NCLEX, taking the exam and passing it, will it be easy to get a job in NY? i'm thinking i might go through all that and yet we can't get a job.

Don't fret. There are other states you can consider that I'm pretty sure you can land a job on.
