I am a nurse here in the Philippines and it is my first time to apply for a licensure at New York State. I'm processing my CGFNS Credential Verification for New York State (CVS) online, but I haven't completed it yet. I just wanna make sure if I'm doing the right thing. Is there anyone here who can help me or give me information on the step by step process of applying for a license in NY state, from CGFNS up to application at the NY State Education Department (NYSED). I am doing the process on my own and just basing it from what I read from the site and the other blogs here, but I'm still confused. Can someone help me on this? One who had undergone the same process before. Thanks!

I applied to NY recently. You need to do CVS first because it takes time. Then submit your application yo NY. In your application you also need to pass the infection control and child abuse exam which is posted on their website. There are online options for you to take the classes. Some of the agencies send your certification directly to the NY BON and some don't. So you need to print it and mail it to them.
Thank you for the response. I am actually processing my CVS as of the moment. I haven't submitted my application yet because I saw Suzanne's Primer here regarding NCLEX application for first timers and she mentioned about having the online application form notarized at the US Embassy, I only had mine at a local notary public. Where have you notarized yours?
After submitting my CGFNS application and completing the online courses, what do I do next? I'm actually confused about applying for a licensure at NYSED.

I applied for CVS last nov.2012, had my application notarized in a local notary public also. My current status is "waiting for required items" although they already received my transcript and license validation last march, i asked them regarding my status and accordingly they are still waiting for some information from my school. I plan to send my application to NYSED next month. I hope and pray for the positive outcome of my application.
Thank you NursePao! Let's hope for the best results regarding your application.
So I will just be sending my CVS application and also wait for the results. For the NYSED application; I just need to complete the Form1 and the online courses right? And I need to send them to NYSED together with the payment done through check or money order right?
Yes, send your application and payment (demand draft/money order drawn in US dollar account) to NYSED, then let's wait until CGFNS send your CVS report.
I already paid my CGFNS application just last friday, I'm actually on the process of mailing it, I tried mailing it thru LBC, however they won't accept it since it is a P.O. Box address, they're asking me for a more complete one since they do it door to door, I've tried other couriers as well and they mentioned the same. They advised me to mail it thru Post Office here however it will take 2-3 weeks for it to be delivered and I'm really not quite confident it will arrive there.
How did you mailed yours?
By the way, how's your application so far? God Speed!

You can use the International Express Mail System by Philpost. At least your documents are guaranteed to ship. It's expensive but it's worth the price.
Thanks for the reply! Yes, I will do so. Are you processing yours as well?
Yes. I have my brother do it on behalf of me. Did you make your email address as your primary correspondence with CGFNS?
Okay. Just an update. I sent my notarized application and authorization letters to CGFNS last week thru USPS together with their tracking service. USPS said that it was delivered last Tuesday but I haven't heard from CGFNS until Friday morning telling me that they already received my notarized application and that they now can proceed with my evaluation pending school & PRC documents. My application sat in that P.O. Box for 2 days. That's 2 days less with my 90 days deadline to be evaluated. *sigh*
Oh okay, I just mailed mine last Thursday through Postal Service as well, I hope it'd get there in a week, actually it's just 3-5 days but I gave an allowance coz' I know there'll also be some delays. Well, don't feel bad about it, it's a good thing your docs are already in their hands, I guess we just have to wait for whatever results they will give. By the way, have you took the online courses yet?
