I am a nurse here in the Philippines and it is my first time to apply for a licensure at New York State. I'm processing my CGFNS Credential Verification for New York State (CVS) online, but I haven't completed it yet. I just wanna make sure if I'm doing the right thing. Is there anyone here who can help me or give me information on the step by step process of applying for a license in NY state, from CGFNS up to application at the NY State Education Department (NYSED). I am doing the process on my own and just basing it from what I read from the site and the other blogs here, but I'm still confused. Can someone help me on this? One who had undergone the same process before. Thanks!
hi everyone, i need help regarding cvs. i submit my notarized application jan 31st and when i track it it was recieved feb 5th. But when i check on cgfns site when i log in the status said notarized application waiting to be recieved? how is that possible? I am waiting for them to atleast sent a request to my school so that i can move forward and submit my app to ny bon. i know cvs might take 6-8 months. How can i help to make it faster. i cant concentrate in my review not knowing whats going on?

It took me 8 months (CVS and all) to get my ATT. The CGFNS receives a lot of paperwork from applicants all over the world that's why they give you a time frame of 6-8 months but they will maximize that to 8 months to finish your evaluation. It will only go faster to issue report if your application is nearing its expiration date. :)
hi FOR ME they took 9 months to issue report but transcript from college is recieved but not accepted..anybody faced this condition?am waiting for nysed since 1 month..[/quote']The CGFNS will issue report on whatever documents they have received and NYSED will make a decision on whether you are eligible to sit for the NCLEX based on that report.
If the CGFNS issued report, that doesn't mean you are already eligible to sit for the NCLEX in the state of New York.
NYSED will not issue eligibility if you did not fulfill their requirements. You should know that both of these services will expire and that you have to reapply again with different set of fees.
hoby,the school sent transcript twice and still it shows not acceptd and third one from school was received before issuing the report but it seems they open the thing after issuing the report.Even after receiving the things they will take 3 weeks to open it:When i asked customer care they said its only minor issues;
flamingwalflower,thanks for your response.After issuing the report it seems cgfns got another transcript from college .Will they reconsider it?Do you have any idea how much time nysed will take maximum to give us a letter?
If the CGFNS already received your school transcripts then it should be included in the report however like what I have told you before, NYSED will do their own evaluation. You might want to call NYSED and follow up on your application. They do answer promptly during their office hours (8-5pm EST) and be prepared with your questions.
hi there, flamingwallflower! this is regarding my NY NCLEX application... (I also took nursing course in the Phil.) it's been two months now since i submitted my notarized nclex app, fee and certificate for the online courses, and i havent heard fr them. should i expect a reply letter fr them once they received my application stating the requirements i need? i've heard in california, once they received the app, they will send you a confirmation letter together with the requirements to be submitted by the applicant and school. is it the same with NYS?
also, i haven't mailed my app for cgfns-cvs 'coz when i went to their website, it says there, to contact NYS first before starting the application. does that mean, submit the application first to NY State or i have to actually call or contact them to ask for permission?
i'm really confused right now. i know, fr reading similar threads abt ny nclex app that it takes a long time for cgfns to validate credentials. so, should i just submit and go on with my cgfns-cvs app now even if i haven't heard or received any reply letter fr NYS?
need your opinion and suggestions pls. thanks so much...

You do realise you are looking at approx 6-8 months before the BON will look at CVS unless CGFNS receive your documents in a timely manner CGFNS will wait 6 months and then send everything they have to NY BON. Child abuse can be done online and accepted courses are on the NY BON website. Can't make it any faster unless you speak to your school to be aware that the request will be coming from CGFNS. Best wait until 4-5 months before submitting application to NY BON as they will not do anything until CVS is received
