NCLEX application in NY for NON-US applicants.

I am a nurse here in the Philippines and it is my first time to apply for a licensure at New York State. I'm processing my CGFNS Credential Verification for New York State (CVS) online, but I haven't completed it yet. I just wanna make sure if I'm doing the right thing. Is there anyone here who can help me or give me information on the step by step process of applying for a license in NY state, from CGFNS up to application at the NY State Education Department (NYSED). I am doing the process on my own and just basing it from what I read from the site and the other blogs here, but I'm still confused. Can someone help me on this? One who had undergone the same process before. Thanks!

NY will not act on your application until they receive the CVS report from CGFNS. The CVS report takes 6-9 months to process. Your NY application will hold for 12 months if the CVS report is not received in time you will need to reapply and pay the fees again.

Again NY will basically not process or review your application until a completed CVS report is received from CGFNS

@justbeachynurse okay. thanks for your reply. so, i'll go ahead with my cgfns-cvs application then.

in applying for ny nlcex-rn, you don't have to be licensed in the phil, right? right after graduated the program i left for US... was trying to fill up cgfns-cvs online form, and they're asking for license registration, in which they will follow-up directly in the phil. should i just leave it blank, or send a letter explaining why i do not have RN license? thanks...

You should start on your CVS ASAP now that you submitted an application to NYSED. NYSED will send you a letter once they receive report from CGFNS.

New York doesn't need a local license so you can leave that blank.

hello everyone.

i am a foreign graduated nurse from Nepal. it has been 9 months since i applied for NY CVS. A month ago i got a notification from CGFNS and they already sent the report to NY state board of education and today i knew that also i have to send an application to NYSED which i have not send yet and i haven't take any course of child abuse and infection control. My question is should i have to take a child abuse and infection control course before i have to send the application to NYSED? pls reply ASAP m in great problems.

Just an update!! After waiting for more than a year since i started my application. I finally took NCLEX-RN last January 28, 2014 and through God's grace I made it! For those who are still waiting a response from CGFNS/NYSED don't give up. God bless future NY RNs!
