NCLEX application in NY for NON-US applicants.

Published

I am a nurse here in the Philippines and it is my first time to apply for a licensure at New York State. I'm processing my CGFNS Credential Verification for New York State (CVS) online, but I haven't completed it yet. I just wanna make sure if I'm doing the right thing. Is there anyone here who can help me or give me information on the step by step process of applying for a license in NY state, from CGFNS up to application at the NY State Education Department (NYSED). I am doing the process on my own and just basing it from what I read from the site and the other blogs here, but I'm still confused. Can someone help me on this? One who had undergone the same process before. Thanks!

My brother is licensed RN in Massachusetts and he is trying to file for license endorsement to NY. It has been 3 months since he filed for CVS-Ny in CGFNS. He is done with infection control and child abuse courses. Should he file his form1 now or just wait for CVS NY report even he is already licensed in Massachusetts?

CVS averages 6+ months. Wait for cvs report is the recommendation

Hi @buknit just wonder once the prc and school credentials received by CGFNS how many months would it take for them to process it and forward it to NY? And how many months also would it take to process by NY before they give me ATT? Thanks in advance

I applied for cgfns-cvs in march 2015. After they have received my school credentials and prc they changed my cvs status in september to ready for submission/ready for review. It took them 5 or 6 weeks for them to send the final report to NYBon. I guess it was 2nd week of november when they submitted my cvs report to ny bon then ny bon endorsed it to comp ed for review again then by december 31 comp ed finished the review and forwarded it back to ny and after like 1 week they made me eligible then I paid for the exam then my att came in. It was 10mos waiting period for me from cgfns-cvs to ny eligibility........

hi georginafiona... was it your first time? When I first took the nclex exam i also failed, that was back in 2008. Next month feb 26 will be my 2nd attempt. Dont lose hope. How many months did you prepare and review for the nlcex exam?

Thanks. yes it's my first time. Do you know the validity of the Eligibility to take the NCLEX? I planned to retake again soon.

It's good for one attempt. You must apply for a retake and reregister and pay Pearson. Some states charge for retake applications. Others don't in the first 6 months

Finally, have my ATT.. Yey! Thank you Lord for such blessings.. Now im going to beat the beast soon..

how many months are you preparing for the exam? Are you reviewing full time or working and reviewing at the same time?

Hello sir,

I have already applied to CGFNS for CVS and my status now says 'READY FOR FINAL REVIEW'. Lately I realized that I also had to apply to The NYED-Office of The Professions. Although I have already read the 'Nursing licensing application packet', I have a few questions.

1. Stated in item 19 of FORM 1, I have a registered nurse license NOT from a US BON, do I still need to fill it up?

2. As I have a license from back home, does section II of FORM 3 need to be filled by the licensing board back home?

3. I'm confused with regards to the child abuse course, is it just 'child abuse' or 'child abuse reporter training'?

Appreciate your time and this thread.

In your application to ny bon it only applies if you are licensed in the usa. If you have license in the phil, its your choice since ny bon dont required you to be licensed in the country you graduated if you choose to include it just let cgfns know so they will include it in the report.Child abuse can be taken later on since its only online. Contact the ny bon through email in the website provided. They will send you link for child abuse courses will take few mins and i think 15-20$ Also, seems like questions here are repeated if you browse older replies you will able to get answers.
