Hi Everyone, I am a Liberal Arts student at NCC right now and interested in "Change of Program" to Nursing for Spring 2021. I have almost all the Pre-reqs done with 3.7 GPA. Only thing I worry about at this moment is the TEAS Exam. I did not take the TEAS yet and due to the COVID-19, there's no any test date available in my area. Do you guys know if they would consider my application without the TEAS? Please let me know if you know anything about this situation. Thank you
Just now, NurStudent2021 said:I just received an email from the Nursing dept. no more seats, I didn’t get in and will have to reapply.
way to kick off the thanksgiving.
but best wishes to all that go accepted and same for all that are waiting
I already know how you feel. I am done with my prereqs this semester so I don't even know what other classes to take next semester. I feel screwed.
This was response from admissions by email:
All accepted students were emailed yesterday in their personal email account, students that were not accepted will be receiving an email next week in their NCC email.
I’ve applied to Suffolk for fall semester but didn’t get in. I applied to Nassau for Spring since it is connected to empire to complete a BSN.
I’ve taken the TEAS test twice. Science seems to be the challenging part for me my score was a 75 overall. My plan is to retake the TEAS and try again in the Fall for both schools.
Any tips for getting a better grade on the science section of the TEAS?
Im upset yet still hopeful about this. However, I just received more (somewhat) disappointing news for my back-up school and I would appreciate any advice you guys have:
In addition to NCC's nursing program, I also applied to a Respiratory therapy program at a different school as a backup. It's accredited and located in Nebraska but its part time/online, meaning lecture and lab is remote but clinicals are in person wherever you live. But its up to the student to secure a clinical site.
I've been accepted into the program since october. Since I already work at a hospital in NYC, I spoke to the Respiratory dept manager and he said hes willing to host my clinicals. But today, I got an email from the program's clinical coordinator who said:
"We don't have a signed affiliate agreement with your clinical site, but hopefully by Feb 1 HR and the ED dept will have that completed. So, you are good to go, knowing that if the affiliate agreement isn't signed by the time you start clinical rotations in Jan 2022, you'll have 3 options: 1. find a different location, 2. complete rotations where there is an established affiliate agreement, 3. drop the program."
Im probably jumping the gun and perhaps all will work out, it will get signed, etc... But im honestly worried and thinking the worst case scenario, especially in light of this disappointing news from NCC.
So what if its not signed by Feb 2021, I spend all of 2021 completing my first year respiratory classes but unable to get an affiliation agreement signed with another hospital/clinical site by Jan 2022??
It would be like a waste of time and money if it goes that route. Well maybe not waste of money because my employer is reimbursing me but still...
I kinda feel like I have to stick with it because I didn't hear anything from NCC/nursing but I don't know I have to do *something* I've been a patient care tech for 10 years now ?
any suggestions? Should I just stick with this respiratory program and maybe the agreement will be signed without any issue?
